I'm going mental!

So I've been fighting hairloss since i started university at 18.
Lost quite a fair bit but then I had immense regrowth from finasteride (1mg), xandrox 5% and nizoral. I however started to get saggy pecs and stopped the finasteride pronto, lost the gyno after about 3 months with the hair still looking great but after that it started to look crapola once again.

When it didnt even seem like I was maintaining anymore I jumped back on the finasteride at a lower dose (0.5mg) each day and the gyno stayed away, but the hair continued to look worse and worse!

Now fast forward to the present day and my girlfriend and i are in a serious relationship, and after experimenting with xandrox 15 plus and not getting much success there, I've upped finasteride to 1mg once again and what do you know after 1 month my hair is starting to look good again! But guess what has come back to my chest!?

I just had to vent this because it is so frustrating you would not believe.
Though i'm sure many of you would believe.

Any advice or anything would be great

peace

It seems that with 1mg you get gyno and with 0.5mg you don't. Do you prefer to have some hair and breasts? You should definitely stop using a drug if it giving you gyno. Maybe use RU58841, it's an experimental drug that you could use at your own risk and there are users in this forum who are happy with the result it gave them and they say that there are none side effects. One here is even using it for many years. It's a very powerful topical DHT blocker.

Do you remember when you started noticing gyno at the first time after starting 1mg of finasteride?

Actually, 0.25mg should be enough to stabilisie your hairloss. So if 0.5mg had no side effects you should look at opting for this. You need more patience. Have you thought of adding a growth stimulant like minoxidil as well?

Worse for worse - why don't you shave it off. If you are in a stable relationship, it means that your girlfriend like you for the way you are and actually like baldies! You will be surprised! Why don't you open up to her and ask if about what she thinks if you shaved off your hair?

I know girls who get hot for shaved heads but having a shaved head out of choice and having one where you can see the guy is doing it because he's receding and going thin on top are two different things.

That was the same choice i got left with. I got less side effects from finasteride by cutting the dosage but still got gyno. Theoretically tomaxifen could counter this problem but it too has its own side effects.

Obviously i'd rather have no breasts thank you, i should probably mention I'm 21 now?

I remember clear as day the first time i noticed gyno on 1mg, i was wearing a white hoody top that was quite tight whilst on holiday, looked at my reflection in a mirror and could see my pecs standing out for more than usual! Went into workout exercise overdrive and i tried to ride it out for quite a few months tbh but it never really subsided and i quit. Its good to know it goes away once you stop.

I'm already on Xandrox thats what was pushing my patience, not seeing anything grow.

Its just SO hard to deal with this whole thing. You can see your hair falling out before your very eyes, it gets you down. You get on 1mg, it looks fantastic, you get man boobs, which gets you down. You get off it, and start again.

I don't think my girlfriend would like a baldy...

whats your situation now follicle84?

Well i had to drop finasteride because it wasnt worth the side effects. I originally was going to get keep on using it and get surgury later to get rid of the gyno. However surgury would be a bad idea. Its too costly and doesnt completelly get rid of gyno. So i would still have moobs just not as bad. Furthermore i suffered fatigue, which made me depressed. It just wasnt worth the hassle.

So i opted for an alternative treatment. I used hairsignals and minoxidil 5% with 1mg of propecia dissolved in it. It slowed my hairloss greatly my hairline barelly changed and i seen a few hairs go dark but nothing too impressive. Unfortunatelly i ran out of it and couldnt afford to buy more. I know this combo worked for me because i rappidly started losing hair few months after i ran out. I wouldnt expect regrowth but it certainly helps to slow hairloss down at least it did for me.

When you stopped finasteride did you gyno fixed itself? How long did it take? I read that finasteride can't be absorb by your skin so maybe what did work for you and slowed hair loss is the minoxidil.

RadioMopTopHead, do you actually think that your girlfriend would leave you if you'll go bald?

The gyno mostly went away after two months but there's a little bit still there that wasnt there before i started using finasteride. I'm afraid this is permanent. I used finasteride for 5 months by the way.

There's no way i can know for sure if the finestride and hair signals helped me. It could just be the minoxidil. One thing i do know is it certainly didnt do any harm using a 1mg finasteride tablet dissolved in minoxidil, but it did when adding 3 or 4 extra finasteride tablets (side effects came back but not as intense).

Here's an old topic on finestride dissolved in minoxidil. I got it right in the end by the way.

To answer that then if minoxidil can pentrate the scalp for absorbtion. Then you all you need to do is make sure you dissolve the pill of finestride into the minoxidil solution correctlly (so there's no bits, its complettely dissolved in the minoxidil). How much is absorbed or how effective it is who knows. This still stands to speculation.

I really don't know. But there aren't many 21 year old bald guys! I have big curly hair so ive been able to hide it luckily however its getting so bad that im getting so very desperate these days.
In the past few days ive dropped my finasteride dosage to 0.5(ish) again and already im seeing the quality of my hair deteriorate :-(

I watched a film about Brian Eno the other day: he lost his hair at a young age too but it didnt seem to affect him and look at what hes achieved. It was very inspiring.

I love how people claim to see results after one month of treatment!

Listen buddy, I f you thought your hair was getting thicker, it is because of whatever treatment you were using several months prior to your results.

aww hehe, I guess it all makes sense, it's to do with the way it's all playing with your hormones, sucks dude ._.

I'll copy and paste what I just put in another thread, as I was just about to give the same advice anyway lol

"I want to say though, and I know I get bashed for this, but have you considered looking at diet and lifestyle? Obviously as WELL as specific treatments, but man what I do is when people have success i COPY them! hehe

As a complementary factor to an oral treatment (beta-Sitosterol, finasteride, Dutasteride etc) and a topical treatment (Ketaconazole (Nizoral), Minoxidil), give a better diet and lifestyle a bash! Correct your whole body's hormone balance, and maybe you'll join the numbers of people on here who have effectively combated it with a more holistic solution :)

Hoppi!"
