I’m an 18 year old person and I’ve recently noticed hairloss and thinning of my hair at the corners of my forehead. My barber told me this, and I just noticed it recently. I don’t havhave any health problems.I just use hair gel twice a week. Maybe it’s because of the gel I guess. I have uploaded some pics too

I’m really tensed
I’ve expected this at such a young age

Male Patter baldness. We have one thing in common, it was also my barber who noticed it for the first time :D My that doesn't mean that you are going bald tomorrow. It may recede a bit and may stay that way for rest of your life (if you are lucky enough). How is your family history with baldness?

The temples are thinning but nobody can say it will progress to the point of a major issue at this stage. Since you still have hair there, I would start Minoxil unless you are noticing thinning on top as well, then I'd think about Finasteride as well.

I don't think so. You might have slightly receded temples but you are not going bald. Also 5-10 hair strands is nothing. People lose close to 100 daily...

Your hair still looks decently thick. Yes, your temples look like they've receded. Doesn't mean you'll progress to full on male pattern baldness. I would just keep an eye on it. Take pics every 3 months or so.

Stop using hair gel. You're damaging your hair long-term.

I agree, but most members on here lose 25-50 strands in the shower alone. I probably lose no more than 5ish. I don't have any active balding, to my knowledge.

According to the research, it is normal to lose 50-100 hairs every day. This may sound like a lot, but keep in mind that we have 90,000 to 150,000 feathers. If we brush our hair daily by shampooing our hair, we do not notice a loss of about 100 normally.

So you can't say for fact that you only lose 5-10 hair daily. You lose a lot more but you don't see it.

Hair gel or spray doesn't damage your hair long term. You won't go bald because of them.

Yes, they absolutely do. No, they won't cause you to go bald. What it will do is cause an accumulation of irritants in your scalp that will cause further scalp skin issues, which will lead to the growth of less healthy hair over time, even the hair in the donor regions. I wouldn't use them for the same reason why I don't use cheap mainstream shampoos full of bizzare chemical ingredients that I don't recognize. Obviously using better shampoo won't prevent you from going bald, but it will reduce the amount of toxicants that get into your scalp and wreck other aspects of your health. It will also help the proven treatments work more effectively by reducing scalp inflammation. It will also help strengthen the hairs that are stable there.

Hairline is maturing, hairline is pristine, no you ain’t balding (yet). Use anything you want. If hair wants to fall out, it will even if you live like a monk and wash them in olive oil. Monitor your situation but for now you are ok. Massage your scalp for starters.

Most people forget this fact you stated.

If you think you suffer from male pattern baldness, then don't count fallen hairs, because that can make you paranoid.

Check your hairline, temples and crown if you think you most likely have male pattern baldness, or visit a dermatologist for a miniaturization test.
