Alright, so I guess a lot of you are sick of seeing the online name 'jonnykino'. I know I am. I bet a lot of you are also sick of seeing pictures of 'jonnykino's' hair. Either way... I'm back. I have a reason though.

So I've got OCD. I think I established this from my very first post. My main fear is of losing my hair. There's other stuff that get's in the way of my life, but at the moment, the hair thing is the main one. Since my last post, I've now started going to see a therapist about my hair. My hair obsession has really exploded though, recently, and at my last visit, I asked her whether I should see a trichologist. I figured that that would be my best bet in kicking my worries. However, she said no. She said if I wanna beat this OCD, start off slow.

So here's the kicker. My therapist knows I go on various hair loss forums, and has advised me to not go to a trichologist, but to post (yet) more pictures of my hair online. Get a varied response of what people thought of my hair, whether my worries are irrational, or whether there's some justification in my obsession. I'll eventually have to show her these results.... I'm presuming that, if I get a "your hair is fine, stop worrying", it will justify her on me being irrational.

So yeah. I know I've posted a lot of pics in the past, but I was wondering if you'd mind if I post more, fresh pictures? If not, then I totally understand. That's why I haven't posted them in my first post of a new thread like usual, in case you're all sick of me!

So yeah, I thank you in anticipation. I get I must be annoying, but I do thank you for the support I've had in regards to my OCD... even if this isn't an OCD forum.

Yes, post away! Why wouldn't you the first time? If someone is sick of seeing something, the logical thing to do is not even open the thread in the beginning.

If you're as devastated as I am about my hairline than going to a therapist is a waste of time. There are many mental health issues that can be solved by working with a therapist but for me hair loss isn't one of them. Use all of your stress fighting troops to fight back the hair loss mental effects and, if something else comes along see a therapist. Show us the pictures. We are all in this together and are here to support one another because, God knows, the world ius a cruel place for balding men.

^^^^

You have nothing to worry about judging by those photos. Mate, in all honesty it just in your head. Without sounding rude maybe you have some other mental issues that are bothering you.

Again, I want to reiterate, I'm just trying to be helpful.

Good luck.

:)

Sorry about the long wait for a reply from me. Christmas was busy.

Anyway, I have some pics. There's a part just coming from my crown I've been concerned about for a while. I was told it was a natural parting coming from my crown so I dismissed it, and moved on to my hairline. Anyway, it's been bothering me again, so I took some pics of my hair completely spiked up. And I saw something I'm VERY worried about. Where I was told there was a natural parting, when I spike my hair up, this 'part' seems to follow all the way down my hair.

Now, that's with flash. In my album of hair pics, with no flash its not really noticeable.

However, when wet, my hair looks like this. This 'strip' doesn't appear;

Is that a parting then or something that I SHOULD be concerned about? I just don't get why it doesn't show up when my hair is wet.

My hairline in pictures looks alright, but in real life I see something far worse. I'm guessing that's due to my OCD, but still... here's a birds eye shot of my hairline;

P1010389.jpg

There's frontal and side shots in the album. What Norwood would you put me in?

Anyway, here's the album. It's newer, with better shots in compared to the album that Naltima posted. I'm wearing a pink hair band in a couple of shots. Don't judge me. It's all there was in the bathroom.

My scalp is red, it's inflamed and there are... not to be crude, crusty scabs on my scalp. Doctor said it's dermatis, and it get's worse with anxiety.

IrishFella, it's only OCD that's going on in my head. Nothing else, lol/

So yeah, there's my pics. Any replies would be great. Sorry letting out all my worries and concerns here.

Thanks. Hope you all had a good Christmas.

I haven't read anything about you before (dont come here so often anymore), but looking at your pics I would say that your hair looks good now, but it does look like you may have some form of hair loss in motion, although of that I cannot be certain.

If you feel that the state of your hair is deteriorating then I would say get on the Big 3 now. 1 Propecia per day, minoxidil twice per day, and use Nizoral shampoo. That really is the best defense and will hopefully slow any hair loss so that 10 years from now your hair shouldn't look much different.

BUT if you are experiencing hair loss, then while the big 3 may help for up to 10 years, I think there is a good chance that eventually its effect will be diminished and you may end up balding anyway. Basically in this scenario you are just delaying the process, and the anxiety.

Looking at your pics though it seems there might be a better way. I think you should think about shaving your head now. Firstly I think it would suit you and secondly, if you do it when you still have a full head of hair takes away from the stigma of it, just looks like you "decided" to go for a new "cool" look. A lot of guys with great hair choose the shaved look.

This will also take a lot of your anxiety away. Its a big decision if you havent done it before but its best done before it becomes necessary. You will ease the burden on yourself forever.

I would still treat with the big 3 so you maintain your hairline as best as possible, but the after 10 years or so if the hairloss continues to progress you wont be anywhere near as stressed about it as you would be had you not already accustomed yourself to the new look.

Of course you can grow your hair longer from time to time, but dont get used to it otherwise you will build anxiety again.

Good luck mate.

Thanks for you replies.

See, I asked this question on another forum, and was told that it was just a natural parting, and shouldn't be concerned. Then I get the reply from jc444 and get all confused again. Arghhhhhh. I'm not knocking your reply, I'm just very confused.

Anyway, hairline-wise, where would you put me on the Norwood scale?

Thanks for your reply.

Now, if I comb my hair making the 'parting' noticeable, it looks like this.

And it looks like it follow's on from my crown;

So I dunno what to believe. Parting, or not. I dunno.

Lol, you know what? I'm registered on there and didn't even know that there was an online consultation. Cheers for that Ben, I'll try that.

NW1. It seems to me like you don't have to worry about hairloss at all yet.

Hi sorry for not being clear. I meant that even if the meds are very successful and keep your hair good for a very long time, say 10 years, well eventually they may well lose their effectiveness and you have nothing then to fall back on. Basically the balding may accelerate back to the rate it was occuring before starting meds in the first place. My point is that even the big 3 may be only delaying the inevitable.

I have used the big 3 for 10+ years. Had great results for maybe the first 7 years - noone but me could tell I had lost anything at all. But then noticed things getting worse more rapidly after that. I still use the big 3 but my hair is chagned forever unfortunately. All density lost, hairline receded a lot.

I am basically thinking more and more about just shaving it to end all of this. I really wish I had shaved my head when I was younger. Even when I had heaps of hair, just to get used to the style.

In the end, do I regret using the big 3 and delaying the inevitable for 10 years? I mean had I not used the meds at all I would have been bald long ago I am sure and hence by now would be very comfortable with my bald self. Or was it worth it having good hair all those years but now facing the uncomfortable dilemma of losing it?

My answer is the latter. It was worth it. I think mainly because as you get older it becomes less shocking to lose ones hair as, for example, you notice half your buddies have too. So yes, I think its better to delay it as long as possible.

But for the original poster its sounded like he has some serious issues with his hair that could well be detracting from his quality of life. I just think by shaving his head he would find things a lot lighter mentally, just try it out and he may find himself not stressing over it so much. I know its a horrible burden to carry for any man. And the short cut look is a good thing to be accustomed to should you have hairloss that in a few or many years will claim most of what you have now.
