I usually have two annoying cowlicks on the back of my head as I usually keep my head longer. However, I just got a haircut and had my barber buzz the back of my head. I went and looked at the mirror and was shocked to see how much of my scalp I could see when light was being shined down on it.

It looks a big larger than a normal cowlick (or that it was one and is starting to spread). If you are noticing any hair line thinning or an overall feeling of less volume then it is probably male pattern baldness. If you are not, I would apply minoxidil there for 6 months to a year and reevaluate.
