Im 19 And Thinking About Shaving My Head

Im 19 and been fighting hairless for a couple of years. I'm probably a nw2.5 with no crown thinning. Recently I have been thinking about shaving my head to already a 3 maybe a 2. The thing is im terrified at what i might look like. I mean how many 19 year olds do you see with a shaved head.. I'm also thinking about finasteride bit honestly terrified of having long term ED and infertility. Furthermore, I'm currently on anti-depressants and don't know whether they would react well with finasteride. I will post some pics of my hairless when I get home. Anyone else that started early, did you ever have the courage to shave it?

Mine started at 16 but I will never shave it cause I could not pull it off. Currently I'm a diffuse nw2 at 19 years old ( been on finasteride for one year)

It comes down to how much hair matters to you. If you are someone with a masculine face and tan complexion - probly just shave it. But if you feel a lot of your identity is tied into hair ( like me) then try finasteride first.

I have been avoiding anti depressants for years because I have heard some people say they cause hairloss. However I think it would be fine to take it with finasteride but you should ask a doctor.

My advice - if hair matters to you try finasteride just try it. If you get sides , you can quit and everything will go back to normal. However even if you do get sides they are probly physiological . That isn't to say sides can't happen- they definitely can but they are relatively rare and almost all sides stop when you quit. And finasteride is the best drug we have for hairloss so if hair matters to you you should try it for sure.

OP you could also try, Dutasteride and applying minoxidil (or taking it orally) for the chance of 'stronger' effects.

If he's worried about side affects he shouldn't start on the strongest hairloss drug. That wouldn't make sense. Just start with finasteride/ minoxidil and go from there. If In a year he still losing hair and no side affects then switch to duta

Im worried about finasteride potentially causing infertility, is this possible?

finasteride supposedly works pretty good for the majority of people for maintaining your hair. So don't expect regrowth but it is good for keeping your hair from what I hear. However if hairloss is very aggressive it won't always work, and that's when you can look at other options such as duta. No way to tell really but I'm hoping finasteride maintains for me .

That's a side I never payed attention to cause I don't plan on having kids so I can't really answer that. I can definitely see why you would be concerned about that. As far as I know finasteride does not stop your ability to have kids but you should definitely see a dermatologist and ask them about it if they prescribe you finasteride.

The antidepressive he is taking is probably more harmful to the body and has more possible negative sides than finasteride but ok

Finasterid lowers and decrease quality of sperms

There are studies that show that both quality and number of sperm go up once you quit finasteride

However noone knows if the people recover to their pre finasterid state bc they didnt measure it before they started with finasteride

If I do I'll probly just adopt

Hi, do you also know whether finasteride affects beard development? Even though my beard is starting to come through very patchy, it is clear it is still developing. Do you think taking finasteride could stunt this growth?

You're not gonna get permanente sides from propecia, you may suffer some ED symptoms while on the drug, but once you quit everything should and most likely will return to normal within a month or 2.
