Sorry buddy, it’s definitely a bald spot. Silver lining is that the spot, in and of itself, doesn’t mean you are balding due to male pattern baldness. If it’s isolated or abnormally rapid, (check hairline for thinning/recession), then it could be a number of things. If you put up a pic of your hairline and some background info you will probably get more responses around here.
Best bet is to seek out a doctor. They’ll look at it, run some tests, and you’ll have your answers and can figure out where to go from there.
