As the title said, I recently noticed this, I do believe I have Telogen Effluvium, as pretty much all my hair looks thinner. I was also under a huge amount of stress recently, basically, I noticed my temples were matured, and it freaked me out bad, because I have a family history of male pattern baldness. I was under constant stress. all day i'd obsesse about hairloss I imagined. I've had Telogen Effluvium before and I know how much stress it takes to make me shed, my recent stress felt almost worse than the breakup that made me get Telogen Effluvium before. my stress is managed now, because I found some old pictures and my hairline hasn't changed, and I freaked out about nothing. I noticed some shedding, from my eyebrows and sides also. now I noticed this. I'm not sure what this is, or if i should get it checked out.

I also recently started using nioxin to try and thicken my hair, if that helps at all.

The picture of my crown is there to show that my crown, (correct me if im wrong) atleast in my opinion looks good. its just thinning at my side parts. I've never noticed anything like this recently. I only noticed it after the stress I had.

I've also noticed that the side its worse on has been really itchy recently.

should I go see a derm?
If you need anymore pics ask, im not sure how I would go about taking pictures for this

Bump. also I had an abcessed tooth about two years ago and it was never treated, the side of my mouth I had the abcess on my hair seems thinner on the top and from the pics also on the sides and part. Im about to have my teeth work done soon. If you need any more pics to decide just ask. I also found a J shaped hair one time. I heard somewhere that that might mean its from a tooth infection. Any help would be appreciated.

Forget telogen effluvium, that diagnosis is a meme by now, if you have that you will know it for sure. Based on your pictures i would say either no hairloss or diffused male pattern baldness in early stages (thats kinda how mine started). If you are balding you will know it in your gut feeling and by looking at your hair.

Why does it look like its on my sides, I thought that was safe from male pattern baldness. Well, I never noticed this until recently, like, very recently. All the hairs seemed to be the same thickness as the others, and just as healthy I've always had very fine hair though. I've had Telogen Effluvium before, and im having the same hair pain I did before. What kind of pictures should I take to help me decide (angle, area, ect). I also noticed a period of hairfall during my most stressed time, where whenever I plucked at the side of my head (non-male pattern baldness areas) I'd find one or two hairs, which is abnormal, and helped me diagnose Telogen Effluvium before. It feels like Telogen Effluvium, but i'm scared I wont be lucky again.

How much hair did you lose last time you had Telogen Effluvium? You made a full recovery?

I haven’t seen anyone with that diagnoses and then magically regain their hair again.

I lost more than enough for my scalp to be visible under any light, and My hair made a full recovery from it. You can look at some of my other posts It shows alot of pictures of my Telogen Effluvium, and my recovery.

I have a quiff hairstyle, so any thinning was more noticeable. When I wore my hair down you couldnt tell the difference.

Update. Okay I feel stupid. My hair on the Top-back was parted because my barber left my crown long for my cowlick, I wasn't blowdrying it correctly. I have fine hair so my hair naturally has bigger parts. Complete false alarm, sorry for wasting your time. This was all my styling mistake.

You sure man? Those parts are kind of big :p. I sometimes get parts in my hair due to the fact that it's kind of curly, and they're not even close to being that wide.

I have fine hair so I have naturally bigger parts my hair isn't thick by any strech. Heres an older picture of me with a big part, https://imgur.com/a/trhNbPT

Heres a picture with my hair blow dried correctly parted from the side: https://imgur.com/a/hHywRxg

And heres a random picture where the back was sticking back. https://imgur.com/a/Da8Tygb
^^ the hair in the red circle was sticking up and back creating the part that freaked me out.

The hair at my crown is the same length as my hair for the back and it confused me when I blowdryed my hair so the hair that was meant to go forward for my hairstyle was sticking up. That hair is also very short. About 1 1/2 inches.

Also I've never noticed this as a problem when my hair was styled: https://imgur.com/a/yAUQRbk

I'll defininatly still keep my eye on it. My intention isn't to deny the possibility of this being male pattern baldness.

Thank you for everyones help. Pretty sure this is all my haircut, and my styling mistakes.

I genuinely feel stupid for this thread. Im sorry for wasting any time.
