If you quit finasteride, how fast do you lose ground?

Hey guys, I've seen some diverging opinions on this, so wanted to see what you guys know.

I understand once you quit finasteride you will eventually return to your genetically destined hair but my question is how FAST?

1)I've seen some say it happens incredibly fast and within months you could be caught up to where you would have been, without the finasteride use.

2) I've also seen people say you will lose it at about the same rate you would have originally, had you not taken finasteride. Ex: Take finasteride from ages 25-40, quit, reach your "destined" 40 hair loss 15 years later, at the age of 55.

Honestly I feel like I just need to hold on and prolong my hairloss till I'm out of my 20s and hopefully 30s, using finasteride for 15 or so years seems safe so far from testimonials of long-term users, but I would like to hope that by 40 I will come to accept losing hair, and just quit finasteride.

If the second one is what happens, that would be all the better!

The first one! Most of the time, in a year you'll reach the degree of hair loss you would have if you would have never used finasteride. The second is definitely not true in general.

When you said fast I thought you meant in a matter of weeks but if it takes months I don't see it a big issue personally. If you could lose ground after a couple of weeks I'd be worried!

My guess is that you return to; your hair not on finasteride, quickly.

Hard to tell. Here is a graph that shows propecia for 1 year followed by a pause of 1 year;

A bit off topic but does anyone know if finasteride maintains hair that was grown by minoxidil even after you quit minoxidil?

This is a good question, I'd like to know the answer too. Logically speaking finasteride should prevent any further miniaturization, so if minoxidil grows back a hair, i would assume finasteride could hold onto it without minoxidil, than again, I have heard minoxidil hairs that are regrown are considered dependent so not sure.
