If you count hairs... try this...

Right... in the shower collect all your hairs, put them in a pile... let them dry out... come back to them when they're dry, and hold them all together in a flattened clump. Put them up against your head and analyse just how insignificant losing that many hairs is cosmetically.

I found it so bad to find hairs on my wet hand in the shower a while back, but when i did this i realised the 20 hairs or 30 even really isnt that bad... especially when you consider they are falling from all over your scalp and not just one concentrated area.

I dont count hairs anymore for this reason and therefore im less stressed about it... try it.

Just a suggestion.

I hate counting hairs, especially in the shower coz some of them stick on my hand and i count them twice

Used to count hairs, but once you have counted them what cna you do with the number? Nothing so stop because it's pointless.

Last year I won the hair counting championship in Sweden. Not sure if I can do it again though. Picking them up with tweasers is bloody difficult.

counting hairs

ya ive gone through my hair counting phases..but its pointless..judge whether your treatment is working by the size of your bald spot, not by the number of hairs you find in the shower, on your hand, in your comb and so on...besides...if we admitted our hair counting activities to ost people theyd tell us to get a life, lol

Wow people actually count rather than estimate. When I first started my min/finasteride shed I did try to look at may hands while shampooing and did a run hand through hair, look, take a quick estimate, rinse repeat. My main goal was to be able to tell when the shed subsided, not to obsess over an exact number.

BTW I think it has subsided:) Also there was some loss of density and cosmetically it is barely noticeable, but is noticeable. Now I am going to switch modes and do an exact count of the new healthy hairs that sprout in the next 3 months

It doesn't phase me anyway as I don't count my hairs. Since I've been doing something to keep my hair, it hasn't been falling out like it used to. I used to see allot of hair in the shower and in my hand when I'd run my hand through my hair. But not any more, thankfully:)

its weird...ever since i restarted my regimen---i go through a massive shed every 8 weeks..after the intial "shock" shed of beginning it..I admit im sorting spazzing alittle...since its month 4 of my treatment..er well the 16th week...but even so people i know say they havent seen my hair look this good in a long time so im just gonna bare with it and not pay that much attention...hence y i say judge your treatment by the size of your bald spot on your head and not by the number of hairs falling out-even though it can be daunting and make you start thinking the "what if's wha if its not working and so on" but like ive said...the size of your bald spot is what counts-and im doin pretty good..it doesnt look good but it still looks alot better than it did 4 months ago

heres another thing...:im only losing like maybe 5 -10 hairs int he shower from shampooing-rough estimate..like 10 from rubbign the minoxidil in and like maybe 10-20 from combing my hair and like 10-20 from puffing it out with my hands--would u guys consider that a really bad shed? i dont hair count all the time but today has been a bad hair day lol and my scalp is starting to burn from the retin-a and sun (its ben brutally hot and sunny here in florida the past few days) so what do u guys think? I imagine that my inflamed scalp could be a cause of this so im gonna take a week off of my precombined minoxidil/retin-a and nizoral that i havent had a major irritation with since i started the treatment 4 months ago-whatever the case is im not gonna feed into the hair counting syndrome..its pointless and drives me crazy im gona try to do what i did the first time i had moderate success(moderate growth from my treatment), just put the crap on my head and not think about it and 8 months later look in the mirror and go whoa!but damn this retin-a sh*t can be brutal even though my results look the same now 4 months later as they did after 8 months of regular minoxidil 5%--but I guess after all said and done I can still steep as low as hair counting and drive myself crazy-I also notice the hairs shed are smaller than the majority of ones on my scalp which leads me to believe that the minoxidil is getting rid of the old deteriorated hairs again

Counting hairs shows nothing anyway! In male pattern baldness, the hairs become thinner and thinner and eventually stop growing. You're unlikely to have any more fallout than anyone else.

I've been losing about twenty hairs every time my hair has been washed, since I've been... geez, since birth! I think that once you start counting, you start becoming paranoid.
