Maybe bubka was talking about the period in which the testosterone is originally raised. From talking to him I am certain that he knows that the testosterone increase is permanent while taking finasteride/dutasteride.

Then he must know that "the period in which the testosterone is originally raised" is the entire time time that you're taking finasteride/dutasteride. I don't understand your point.

I don't think he was implying that the testosterone level goes back down after a initial spike. I think he was saying that the initial introduction of the drug to the system and resulting increase in test levels could cause acne in some people. But I could be wrong about what he meant.

If I wanted to use numbers to say whatI think he'd meant, I think I'd say that the test level going from 100 to say 110(totally made up numbers) could cause acne in some people, but that he knows that the level doesn't go down from 110 after that. The body may adjust after that and the acne goes away.

So what do you think about 2.5 mg of dutasteride's ability to maintain hair compared to 0.5?

There is no "initial spike" in testosterone when taking finasteride. The raising of testosterone levels is a permanent change.

You got to him before I could! :)

Wont the decrease in 5-AR and increase in test bring about a rise in Estrogen? If the HPTA axis remains this way, this should signal the body to produce less testosterone. Thats why I run low dose AI, to keep the estrogen down and test normal/high. Its helped keep my sex drive and morning wood :)

No prob.

Yeah it did say 2.5 mg grew I think 20% more hair than 0.5 mg per day, on average. I would imagine that this would result in much increased maintenance time as well. With taking 2.5 mg a day I can't imagine someone progressing more than one Norwood scale from where they were when they started over their whole lifetime, just because of the 100% of type II 5AR being blocked. There are other androgens but they are nowhere near as potent as type II 5AR with its ability to eventually damage hair follicles in genetically sensitive people.

Then again I think the same about 0.5 mg a day of dutasteride being super potent, although many on here seem to think that someone on dutasteride early in the balding process will still go to NW5 or 6 eventually. I just can't agree with that.

2.5 mg dutasteride a day.

Some people are really brave souls..

Some people will f*** their bodies to get some hair, no matter what..

I seriously start to believe that some people here need psychotropics instead of 0.5 dutasteride a day.

Yeh, probably a similar ~10% or so increase, like testosterone.

No, it's the HPTA axis itself which is CALLING for more testosterone. It does that because it "sees" a sharp reduction in DHT, and interprets that as a need for more androgenic stimulation. For that reason, it kicks-up testosterone production.
