Baldin really takin a hard toll on me.Feel like crap, feel like dieing.Maybe in my next life i will have the right mix of genes. Wanted to b an actor when i was young, male pattern baldness sure crushed those hopes into a pulp.Losing desire in everythin.Only thinkin abt my hair 24/7.Icant see myself alive and bald 3-4 years from now.Only future i think i might i have if i live on is to be a Monk.Heck its not even my religion. But they are all bald.I would feel comfortable there.I wish there was a planet of the bald.I woulldn't even care then.I'm not sad, just given up.wish i could take the prozac my Doctor gave me but f*** even that causes hair loss.

It's okay...

Everybody on this board has probably been where you are right now. Wanting to make it all go away. The biggest problem we all have is probably caring too much what everyone else is thinking when they look at our disappearing hair. There's a reason each of us is here on earth and it's not to impress other people, right? Find that thing you love -- theater or something else now -- and immerse yourself in it. Then put some time aside and go find people who need you and do something for them. Don't sit at home. Depression is dangerous.

I'm a performer. I spend at least a half hour every morning trying to make it look like I still have hair. If my treatments don't work out, I won't be performing any more in the area I started out in. But I'll find a way to stay involved, and I'm going to have a good life. I have a big problem with depression and I've been suicidal, but I'm going to make it. You will, too.

Hair -- It's just dead cells sticking out of the top of your head. Life can't revolve around those hunks of keratin, or why be alive?

hi,
i'm sorry to read you feel down.
If the Prozac isn't want you want, you could always try something more mild like the herbal 'st johns wort' (hypericum) as far as the research goes it doesn't trigger hair loss, but does help ease depression or general feelings of being down.
Might help, but try not to worry too much, i think 'Just asking' offered some good advice, better than what i could offer at least.
And do you take propecia or proscar? would that not be of benefit to your hair?

good luck though :)

With a regimen like scalp exercise and biotin..u might as well shave ur head and move to a remote monastry in tibet

why cant you use the "real" stuff like the big 3 man?? do you have any issues with side effects etc?

how old are you??

Thks for the encouragement justaskin, zurealguy.Appreaciate it.I just cant bring myself to using propecia and minoxidil.I have started on nizoral..I dont want to get hooked on Propecia and minoxidil..I'm 18 i dunno if i ll be able to sustain a regimen..Once u get on it u cant get out..I guess its too early to start messing with ur hormones anyway at 18.And the most important reason ...i'm broke! My parents are divorced and barely keepin thir head outta of the water..Only reason i started using biotin and MSm was cuz somehow my neighbour had a few extra bottles..Anyway sry to post such a depressin message ,one of those bad mood swings yesterday.Todays a new day tho...

Possibly, men while on propecia are already suffering from depression due tho thier circumstances. I'm losing my hair, this stinking bald patch at the front, or "hole" as these pricks at work call it, pisses me off at times though it sure ain't gonna ruin my life. COME ON LADS, WE'RE PUTTING WAY TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON OUR HAIR. Dont let it bring you down, it's only castles burning, find someone who's learning and you will come around. Life it too good to waste, hair or no hair.

Someone somewhere did some kind of a study saying that playing Mozart for your houseplants helped them grow. So, pick up the CD for the following song, play it in the mornings while you are getting ready and sing along to it. Serenade those follicles... it's impossible to play this old disco classic and not feel good... especially if you SING ALONG to it. Do it. And that's an order from Doctor Gardener. Your mornings and your days will never be the same.

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin' us now
We've got the groove

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin' us now
We've got the groove

There's been so many things thats held us down
But now it looks like things
Are finally comin' around
I know we've got, a long, long way to go
And where we'll end up, I don't know
But we won't let nothin' hold us back
We're putting ourselves together
We're polishing up our act
If you felt we've been held down before
I know you'll refuse to be held down anymore

Well, don't you let nothing, nothing
Stand in your way
I want ya'll to listen, listen
To every word I say, every word I say

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin' us now
We've got the groove

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin' us now
We've got the groove

I know you know someone that has a negative vow
And if you're trying to make it
They only push you aside
They really don't have, no where to go
Ask them where they're going, they don't know
But we won't let nothin' hold us back
We're gonna put ourselves together
We're gonna polish up our act
Well, if you've ever been held down before
I know you'll refuse to be held down anymore

Well, don't you let nothing, nothing
Stand in your way
I want ya'll to listen, listen
To every word I say, every word I say

Ain't no stoppin' us now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin us now
We've got the groove

Ain't no stoppin us Now
We're on the move
Ain't no stoppin us now
We've got the groove

I feel exactlly the same way as you man. I too feel that becoming a monk is the only way I'd live for 2-3 more years though I dont think they'd accept me since I'm not asian or dont speak their language but If I could I'd go to tibet, shave my head and spend the rest of my life meditating.

Looks are so much an important part of this world whether people admit it or not, I mean sure everyone says it's the inside that counts but they know that people who think like that are very rare in this superficial world.
Most of the time I just cry my out eyes for a few minutes and I get so angry at everything in this world especially my mother. I haven't even talked to her in a long time but everytime I see her I just get the urge to shatter her face for everything in life that she's denied me. I've talked to a couple friends about my suicidal depression and they all tell me it'll get better or to hold on and things will brighten up but I dont think things will ever change for me. It's the saddest thing in the world when I see teenagers that are so lucky, they have great hair, great looks, a great social life and they take everything for granted. Me on the other hand I've had to deal with social anxiety that was so severe I had to drop out of high school and I quit my job that I had a few weeks ago. I'm 18 and I've never been on a date, never had a girlfriend, I never went to proms or anything like that I basically sit in my room all day feeling depressed and using my computer. I barely come out of my room except to eat or shower. To me suicide seems like the perfect answer, I can take an overdose of darvon and some sleeping pills and I'd most likely die and all my suffering would be over but I guess I'm holding on for a miracle of some sort and maybe it'll happen before I do decide to take drastic measures.

Well sorry for the rant guys, I just found this place and I feel somewhat of a kinship with a few of you so I just wanted to voice how I feel at this point.

I've been down that road too guys and the only thing I can say is, it gets better with time. If you have a chance, try to see a phsycologist. They can work wonders and train you to start having a more positive outlook. My phsyc found a anti-depressant called Nardil that didn't have hair-loss listed as a side effect. That stuff pulled me out of my suicidal state and gave me the ability to start concentrating again.
take up a hobby:
a couple that I picked up were Jetskis, Astronomy and Flying RC Airplanes. No not the coolest stuff but they've kept me busy and are pretty fun.

Cloudstrife I'm in NJ too PM if you ever need to talk.
