I only experienced a shed after about 3 months from starting Propecia, but it's different for everyone. I'd guess that 6 months is still too early to decide to come off it. I think most state that you need to give it up to 2 years to come to the conclusion that it's not working.

i highly doubt that finasteride is hurting your hair ,however anything is possible and the fact that your hair is much worse after 6 months is not good.Wish i could offer you some advice.

but the way i see it is

1. continue with finasteride to see if things turn around
2.try another DHT inhibtor
3.stay on finasteride and add minoxidil
4.quit finasteride and try nothing
5,try minoxidil on its own

off course these are just some of the options and i am no expert, but i do beleive there is not a 1 fits all ,good luck with your hair
