I Took Dutasteride At Age 16, Did It Stunt My Puberty?

Hello,

Ive had male pattern baldness since i was about 15

As soon as I saw all the fear around finasteride and the potential for long term sexual sides, i was immediately turned off.

I researched dutasteride and saw that there were no studies that showed long term sexual sides, so i begged my doctor to write me up for it and he did. I was 16 at that time

I was on it for 2 years, at which time i got my first girlfriend and had a ridiculous full head of hair. I also saw some mild gynocomastia developing so i stopped taking the dutasteride. my gyno is now gone, but im noticing my face has very little if any sexual dimorphism; small jaw, receeded chin, flat brow, etc. I also have relatively low testosterone.

Does anyone know what potential results from taking a powerful DHT blocker like dutasteride during puberty could do to a fellow long term?

First off the doctor that wrote you a script for dutasteride at 16 should lose his license.

Second off, dutasteride has a higher chance of sides than finasteride as it's basically just a stronger version of it.

Third off, to answer your question, yes it could f*** with your development.

Yup, it could have messed with development. Permanently? I doubt it. If you stop and let dht do it's thing for a couple years I think you'll be fine, just have less hair. I honestly think someone should be 20 AT LEAST to consider these hormonal treatments

And to answer your question. It would probably not develop your secondary male sexual characteristics if you took it from 16-long term. If you took it for a year and stopped at 17 id say you'd be fine as long as you don't have any lingering sides

DHT does cause our secondary male characteristics to appear. We get a lot of DHT
when we go through puberty, and then it drops.

DHT is five times more powerful, as an androgen, then testosterone is.

Thank you for your response. I dont have any lingering health issues or other side effects that I know about. The only issue is that I look like a 16 year old boy at age 24. I suppose its not the worst thing that could have happened.

In theory; could taking androgenic substances like performance enhancers make my face develop properly? Just a thought.

Steriods would most likely solve your issues, assuming what your describing is definitely test related. Just look at women who use steroids, their faces change dramatically, especially using stuff like winstrol.

I guess this isn't much of an advice but what I'd like to say that as someone who's had male pattern baldness since age 16, I think it's really not a big deal that you look kinda boyish. Hell, I've been called an old man by people who are much older than me just because I don't have hair. It really stings. Looking old is a problem, mate. Looking young is not. It's quite desirable, actually. You're going about it completely wrong. Lots of men would pay good money to look young. You have it naturally. I could be wrong but I think you should appreciate it, instead of trying to change it.

the difference between looking 16 and looking 21 is enormous. If i looked like a 21 year old man that would be fine. Alot of secondary male characteristics, jaw, brow, chin, etc, are developed in that time frame.

Fair point but like I said, it's a million times better to look younger than you really are instead of older than you you really are. Just a thought. :)

Feel sorry for this guy.

Most likely has horrible self-esteem when it comes to women.

I dont even think at this point he could imagine himself taking control, and pummeling a women from behind with a face that only a mother could love

Lmao I can't believe this. I know you from YouTube. This is really weird. Anyway, that dude does look excessively juvenile but DHT leads to benign prostatic hyperplasia in later life. I'd rather look like him and have full bladder control than look manly and have to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes. Unfortunately my dad is a living example of the latter. DHT is nothing but evil imo.

So basically you thought blocking around 70% of DHT with finasteride was too risky for you age, so you instead you used dutasteride to block around 90% of DHT?

i didnt fully understand the implications. Dr. Google, shows alot of shitty stories about finasteride, lots of guys with PFS, something i was not about to risk at 16 (still a virgin). dutasteride dosnt have the long history finasteride does, and so the longest term studies showed no long term side effects. that was enough for me at the time. i do regret it somewhat, though.
