Stop thinking like patients and start thinking like researchers.

The hairline is by far the most inconsistent area of balding patients to deal with. Where it balds, when it balds, how severely, how reversible it is when attacked partway through the process, etc.

The vertex & crown are much more consistent (once the balding process has noticeably set in).

Yeah man, they should totally just not test it on the whole head. No, f*** that. They should just test it on the vertex and only on the vertex and then when it's confirmed to work on the vertex only, they should release it to the public.

Don't cover all the bases. Now you're thinking like a researcher!

Precisely. The point of a clinical study is not to produce great aesthetic results or to judge whether growing hairlines is "important" but to test efficacy. The hairline is inconsistent, it's tricky to isolate an sq cm area of measurement (by definition it is a line), has a linear direction of recession, and doesn't usually have a diffuse area of miniaturization.

Thank you Noisette, this confirmation is one of the best news I have heard in a long time.

Honestly I don't care if they are only testing the vertex, the fact that they are making real progress is already an amazing thing.

Do we know when will they release they first set of data?

Amazing!

I would suggest to delete the contact details before people spam them, thus putting you on the risk to lose this great relationship.
So they have plans of short term development in Europe (Replicel - Germany trial?). I Can't wait to know more about this.

Hi efedrez :)
I think they are testing all over the scalp not only on the vertex area.
For me, they are testing on the highest norwood scale not only on the vertex. And if their protocol works so why it would not working on an Norwood 1 or 2 (receding hairline) ?
I don't see anywhere that they are testing only on the vertex area

This is a 12 months clinical study so I think we would have the outcomes on august 2017 :)

As we can see on the "Key inclusion criteria"
" Patients must meet all the following inclusion criteria to enroll into the study:
1. Male or female of 20 year old or more with in good health having androgenetic alopecia involving the vertex area of the scalp.
2. Males patients with androgenetic alopecia characterized as type III vertex type to type VI on the Norwood Scale. Female patients with androgenetic alopecia characterized as vertex pattern type 3 to type 6 of the Shiseido Scale
. "

They are testing on the vertex, because you can make a trichogram there easily :)
Some people don't loose density behind the hairline, even though they are receeding and you can't make a trichogram on the hairline.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it makes sense to me.

@Noisette
Obscure the email plz.

Here's my citation. You pointed it out yourself.

Only my 0,4 cents
It would be a bit silly don't make the test, in both, vertex and hairline at the same time, ... some more photos but they are not very expensive

Noisetteeeee Bro :D You're always full of information. You just broke the biggest story of the Hairloss community my man :) Thank you so much.

Guys this it. We're actually getting our hands on a new treatment after 24 years! My god...exciting times. I wonder if they'll release interim results after 12 months. In my books, even if they get less than 5% regrowth but terminal hair count remains the same, it's a moon-landing moment for Androgenetic Alopecia.

Yup. If this sh*t makes my terminal hair stay terminal, it's transplant city and then I will live happily ever after, right after I headbutt all the "just shave it bro" assholes with my magnificent mane, resurrected unto its former glory and poised to reign for eons to come.

I'm beyond excited for this! It could be a cure for me as I have classic DPA with pretty decent density and no hairline recession. As long as it can rescue your dying follicles and turn them terminal that is.

Didn't Lee buckler say the results would be released at the end of 2017?

Hi, I've been away from this site for a while, seems progression is being made.

Couple of questions:

I believe I've read that they plan to go commercial in 2018, is this true?

If so how will this be possible if they have only just started phase II?

Will they be doing a phase III? If so does anyone know/estimate the timelines?

Thanks

Apparently in Japan if it's safe, regenerative medicine can go commercial before finishing the final trial. That's why Riken's doing there thing in 2020. There's also this other stuff about how Replicel were supposed to give all this data to Sheseido but didn't for financial reasons or something.

Either way Phase II should be over by July next year, assuming they start the next trial about 3 months after the final trial could probably finish in 2018.

The treatment's apparently already been proven safe, but as far as I can tell that's about all anyone knows.

Oh yeah, and because of the Replicell thing no one really knows whether they're doing the Phase II trials, or the Phase III trials right now.
