My pharmacy compounded it for me. 1% finasteride (or wtv makes 1mg of finasteride In topical version) and 5% minoxidil. Even if it works a little I think it could help with the 2x dosing a week. I'm enjoying this regimen the most so far out of potential benefit on hair and 0 side effects. Just hoping for maintenance at this point. I'm thinking about trying that hasson and wong topical though

The rationale for lower doses of finasteride is pretty good -- it's been tested and confirmed to work, both in terms of hair counts and serum DHT levels.

Minoxidil, on the other hand, is dose-dependent. You'll probably lose the benefit at that low dose.

Why is creatine supposed to be bad for hair?

There's one study involving a small sample size and a small duration of time showing that heavy creatine use leads to a modest increase in serum DHT levels.

How are things going so far?

It's been a month. I've done 1.25 mg/day. I notice no change in libido, sexual function, hair, or shedding.

For a period of two weeks or so, my sleep got a lot shorter, but it seems to be of normal length now.
I might have a lower volume of ejaculate, but it'll take a bit longer to be sure.

Starting now I will switch to 1.25 mg on MWF, as the scientific literature proves that there is no benefit to 1.25 mg/day. I didn't take it yesterday (Saturday) or today. I'll be taking it nearly every other day as it's not practical to cut the pills further.

So this 1-month experiment is going on hold. It was foolish of me to start finasteride when I already have erectile dysfunction. It seems to be a little less functional on propecia, went from mediocre to even worse.

I spoke to the doctor on Wednesday about getting additional blood tests. We had various things looked at last year, this time we're adding a few other hormones including prolactin. I'm just about to go to Sweden for ~3 weeks, he said that will be a good amount of time to get the finasteride out of my system, and to take the blood tests when I get back. If he still doesn't see anything weird, he will refer me to a specialist. Last year, my testosterone numbers were ~19 and ~550. I also have somewhat low SHBG (24 I think).

I've been fighting this agressively for about a year now. Some comments:
- L-arginine+pycnogenol have not helped, in spite of studies claiming they would. Once my current bottle runs out, I will not replace them;
- Have lost ~40 lbs and put on some muscle. The weight gain came from graduate school, depression, and back injuries. With that said, I still have a body mass index of 27 (need to lose 9 kg to get to my ideal range) and a waist size of 36 or 37. Studies show that obesity correlates with ED, and I've gone from fat to average, there might be progress from losing a little more weight.
- My diet is a lot better than it used to be, there is still room for progress though;
- I was doing nofap, but finasteride ruined it by cutting into my sleep, and actually raising my libido;

Since I cannot use finasteride, I will read up on castor oil, and RU58851 and figure out how to make them work. RU is somewhat complicated as it's an illegal treatment, doctors will just kick me out of their office if they know I'm on it.

RU is illegal? Or is it just illegal in your country?

Reporting on day to day changes since starting finasteride is pointless. Come back in like a year with pictures. Its the long haul you in it for not month to month changes.
Also I used creatine in high school and had zero hair loss perfect Norwood 1 also I had zero body hair/facial hair. Looking back I think the link between androgens and male pattern baldness is very very strong almost cause/effect. My hair loss has slowly correlated exactly with the slow increase in facial/body hair.
Creatine, steroids, and whatever else dont cause male pattern baldness. Only male pattern baldness causes male pattern baldness by having the genes and being susceptible to the androgen changes. If your balding already I guess creating wont help there, but its not the cause of male pattern baldness.
