I physically counted losing 143 hairs today.

I started at about 3pm while I was reading one of my college textbooks and occasionally I would run my hands through my hair or scratch my head. Each time hairs fell out I would transfer them over to a plain white sheet of paper. I decided to start counting them up at about 10pm, and counted up to 143. Then, I took a shower and probably lost at least 40 (impossible to count). So, including those hairs that fell out before 3pm and the ones I missed throughout the day (when walking around, eating, etc.) I'm guessing I lost well over 300+ hairs today which is REALLY depressing.

The hairs that fell out were all varied in thickness, with most of them being extremely thin.

What really hurts is that I'm on month 7 of Propecia + Nizoral...

So it looks like Propecia hasn't done sh*t, except reduce my sex drive to zero, eliminate my ability to get morning wood, and make it impossible to achieve remotely hard erections without moderate stimulation.

have you talked to your doctor about it? just me personally, when I'm taking proscar or the generic my hair basically stops falling out, going by the shower drain test. I hear ya bro seeing your hair come out is depressing as f***, I've been there, and I'm glad this forum is here so we can talk about it. You're not alone. Hang in there.

I feel ya man.. I am soo gentle with my hair in the shower and after i lather up my hair a little bit.. i slap my hand on the tile and like 20 hairs stick to it..

then i comb my hair gently and there are like 20 more..

it's a never ending battle and it's depressing.

you should consider dutasteride.. or perhaps a hair transplant if your really really concerned.. not sure wether your balding or thinning

either way.. get out and excercise, get a tan. it'll make you feel better.

Hi. Give propecia a little longer to work. I think its best to give it a full year before judying the results. The minimum you should leave it for is 9 months. Even if Propecia doesnt work theres alternatives. Have you consdiered Minoxidil or Dutasteride?

I strongly suggest that you stop counting hairs.

Counting hairs will tell you as much about male pattern baldness as counting raindrops will tell you whether or not you are in a rain forest.

I mean, on any given day, even the desert areas can get torrential downpours.

Hair shed rates can vary WILDLY from day to day and month to month, whether or not you have male pattern baldness.

You really want him to sit around counting hairs and crying even more? Tell him to stop taking it.

Hell yeah he should stop taking it - if he has no sex drive and cant barely get an erection! He is ruining his sex life - that will make you a hell a lot more depressed than going bald!

Sorry I skimmed over that amongst all the talk of varying hair thicknesses which he realized via the necessary use of his electron microscope.

Before jumping the gun and telling the guy to drop Propecia due to libido problems, it is smart to find out how long he has been on it. Pretty much all of us go through temporary total loss of libido in the first few months on Propecia. If this continues however, into the 6th or 10th month, then dropping it is suggested.

In this case, he has been on it 7 months so I would agree that lowering his dosage or migrating to a 5% spironolactone Lotion + Revivogen + Nizoral regimen would be beneficial. However, as a doctor pointed out to me the other day in a discussion I was having with him about my users, "Guys who are paying such close attention to things as your users invariably are, are going to see a devil under every rock, and the placebo effect is going to be hard to differentiate from the side effects."

Take it for what its worth.
