I just wanted to put up some pics to get some opinions on whether or not it appears that I am balding. I've kept my hair fairly short for the last few years and have noticed that it acttualy looks patchy over the entire surface of my head. As I said I need a second opinion/evaluation please. It also appears that my scalp is less of a green color where the folicals are appearing to thin towards the temples. I don't know if it's male patter baldness or what. There are no bald men in my family with the exception of my mother's cousin that is diabetic, but he's not extremely bald, just slightly in the back of his head, with him as an acception all the other men have full heads of hair with some only slightly thining in their late 60's.

I just rescently started the minoxidil you can buy off the shelf in Walmart. I'm extremely athletic, weight-lift and run long distance, so far I've had blood work and the Dr. says I have a testosterone of 780 out of 800 pts. The Dr. commented that this was a healthy high.

Looks to me like you're losing a bit on the crown. I'd go straight to finasteride and skip the minoxidil.

I dont see anything here to make me think that you have a problem. I'd wait at least 6months and see if there is any change compared to these pics.
It never ceases to amaze me when I see people with hair like this on the forum. (no offence mate).

It would never hurt to prevent the problem before it starts. If you have the cash get on Propecia now.

WOW man..its almost as though people NEED to have others be in the same position as them...like a certain nervousness about them that doesnt want to be the only one on this drug.

dude if u have nothing wrong with your hair, dont start messing with your hormones for no reason. this isnt vitamin C and as much as people wanna pawn this drug off as the safest substance on earth, it is still a drug with proven side effects and real long term ones that arent known yet. The only people who should use it are the ones with the problems. Dont listen to people telling u otherwise. Like ur gonna tell brad pitt, hey man better get on propecia now "just in case". Please.

I agree with you that propecia as a preventative drug is a bad idea, but I don't think that the reason some people on here want him to take the drug is because they want him nervous just like they are. Propecia and Avodart are the most effective treatments out there for stopping hair loss and I think that calgary's post was driven by genuine concern. If he wanted the guy to suffer then he'd advise him to get on some snake oil and have him piss money down the drain.

i have seen many hairloss pics. i beleive u r diffuse thinning, and already have receeded hairline. doesnt look bad by any means. but i wud consider treatments. its always better to start early.

theres many people in ur situation tho, people wudnt notice unless ther hair loss sufferers.

Mate i echo the majority of these replys....theres no need for any treatment at the moment.

The photos you have take could potentially misdiagnose you as a diffuse thinner but this appearance is most likely due to the shortness of ur hair and the closeness of the shots taken.

So dont worry about it for now and just monitor it for the coming months and years and if it DOES start to look like its thinning, ACT EARLEY.
