I was told by another member of the forum that the only way to keep my current state of hair, I should try Dutas immediately. I am afraid that at this rate of hairloss, my hair will no longer be acceptable and I wasted time and money by the time propecia starts working. I know I lose the normal amount of hairloss that everyone says is normal (50-100 hairs/day), but at this point every hair is critical. I havent experienced any sides at all from my current reg. Please help, I dont know what to do.

Also, does it look like my hair as improved from last month or changed alot? Of course my hair was longer in the first set, sorry.

The advice you were given was poor advice. You are an *ideal* candidate for responsiveness to Propecia. When I say ideal I mean REALLY ideal. Not only are you a diffuse thinner, but most of your thinning is not at the hairline but deep within your hair. I can almost assuredly tell you that if you stick with your current regimen (which according to your "View my Regimen" thing includes minoxidil 5%) ... you will be EXTREMELY satisfied with the results after 12 months.

Do your best to stop evaluating your progressin 1 month intervals. Its way too short. Expect that you will shed like hell in the next 3 months and DO NOT CHANGE YOUR REGIMEN. Leave it alone. Ride out the shed. Do not start Dutasteride. Propecia and Rogaine will take care of your hair quite well.

The real challenge here has nothing to do with the treatments, but with your concern about what others say, and your understandable concerns that the stuff might not work. It will. But you must stick to it, ride out the sheds, and do not alter your regimen whatsoever.

I have the exact type of hairloss as you, but my temples are a bit thinner and further back and at 5 mos. on finasteride, Nizoral, and vitamins, Ive had alot of response with thickening all over the top. My temples are also pushing forward and I have lots of tiny vellus hairs to a half-inch in front of my hairline of the temples. The loss in my vertex looks EXACTLY like yours with a thin layer of hair that curls over the top.

Everything within that 1 and a half inch radius is a dense area of vellus hairs with various lengths. The very cool thing is I havent had a hairline in that area in about 15 years when I was 15 years old. Im expecting lots of this vellus to turn terminal. Hang in there! Like HairlossTalk said, you are a prefect candidate for some really good response even without minoxidil.

my hair is alot worse than that

i began taking dutasteride recently, because I am that worried about it, and my hairloss has progressed so much whilst taking stupid scam products like procerin for the past 10 months :(

Ahhh...diffuse loss is fun isn't it? I have a similar pattern but more diffuse up front with a stronger crown. I used Finasteride and minoxidil for 6 years and my thinning only continued, albeit at a likely slower pace had I not used it all. I have now been on Dutasteride for the past 9 months and my thinning is worse than ever. I wonder about diffuse loss...are 5ars the answer?

I believe he was using finasteride instead of the dutasteride and he just switched over recently.

Sorry to hear that noorur, hopefully we will both succeed!
