GUys I need your help. what is a better rogaine or propecia? I know they work in different ways as propecia stops or halts hairloss, and rogaine is better at regrowing.

but if someone were to use only one, wich one is better? propecia or rogaine?

I have been taking propecia for about 10 months and 7 days now. my hair shedding is still at the same rate. I still lose alot in the shower, combing, pillow, etc. the shedding is at the same rate as before taking propecia. but my hair still looks the same as before propecia as well. I have mild thinning in the crown just like before propecia, and mild thinning in mid anterior scalp as well.

My question is does propecia need more time, basically more than even a year to see regrowth from the drug? I know I read the the 3p's of hairloss and it says to be patiente and in the second year everything gets better, and growth kick is as well.

please help someone

Give finasteride a year, at the very least. See the recent thread here on the 'ten year finasteride study'.

Depends on the individual i guess, but if you're considering dropping finasteride for minoxidil, I would recommend that you don't... Consider adding minoxidil after a year on finasteride if you're not happy with the results.

"losing as much in the shower as I always have" is a VERY VERY VERY subjective term! How are you quantifying the amount lost? The amount of hair that you see on your hands? The amount of hair that's left in the tub after the water drains out? Neither of these things will work, simply because there are too many variables. To actually measure how much hair is falling out that way, you would have to wash your hair with the same amount of shampoo, lather with the same force for the same amount of time, and your hair/hands would have to have the same time of contact with the water.

What you need (needed) is a plastic hair catch for your shower that has really small holes. This gives you a repeatable criteria for your hairloss measurements. ALL the water has to drain through that, so all your hairs (or at least 98% of them) are going to get caught in the hair catch. This way you can see how much your hair is falling out.

I still get hair on my hands after washing my hair, putting in rogaine, and adding styling products to my hair. If that's all I went by, then I'd say that I had the same amount of hair loss as before I started finasteride. However, my hair catch tells me a different story. It says that, although I'm still loosing hair, it's about about 10% the rate that it once was.
