My treatment ijust snt working. At 18 i tried propecia for over a year ( no results). Aug 04 i stepped up to dutasteride every2nd day (no result) Now two month on dutasteride daily (no result) minoxidil (6months no result) Nizoral for a year (no result), been on spironolactone for 2months to early to say but hair isnt better at all. The worst thing is none of these treatments have even helped maintain. I just ordered xandrox 5%

Should I
1) accept it, stop treatments
2) Try Dr Proctors
3) Try xandrox 15

Thanks, please everyones opinion will mean heeps....

Hey man,

it's kind of hard to discern your Norwood and your type of thinning.

My non-professional, non-medical opinion is that you should continue using dutasteride EVERYDAY, minoxidil 5% 2x daily, and topical spironolactone.

And, of course, Nizoral.

1) Dutasteride daily
2) Minoxidil 5% 2x daily
3) Applications of 5% or 2% topical spironolactone
4) Nizoral shampoo 3x weekly

Prox-N doesnt act like spironolactone because there are no anti-androgens in Prox-N. Prescription Proxiphen contains spironolactone, but i wouldnt bank on the spironolactone in it to be your aid to hairloss, there's a bunch of other ingredients in Proxiphen. Its seemed to help me out at least. For you, i would suggest mabye a 15% Minoxidil solution, and 2% Flutamide from Genhair, mabye Spin Trap C. Also switch your 5% Minoxidil to one with Retin-A. Ive been on the Flutamide for 2 days now with no problems.

Thanks Stax, are you finding it difficult to apply the proxphen? Also with t he flutamid, do you think gen hair is legit?

Proxiphen is pretty easy to apply, Genhair is definetly legit due to many people having good results with their Flutamide lotion. Search on Hairlosshelp. Also, ive read about a lot of people getting good results with Flutamide, and hardly any results with topical spironolactone. I would opt for the Flutamide. spironolactone is effective orally, topically is pretty weak it seems. Depending on how things go with my current pain in the *** regimen, i might try oral spironolactone at 25mg per day going up to 100mg daily max.

Prox-n is awesomely good to apply, though i think you'd need more than the 8-10 drops recommended to cover your whole scalp. Thus it wouldnt last as long and be more expensive.

It spreads really well, though it makes my hair all frizzy, so i'd prefer to use it at night.

Proxiphen isnt hard to apply, but because of the price im using about 1/3 of the recommended amount, and it's hard to get good coverage.

Im considering going for liquid proxiphen, which is an option if you ask for it. It needs to be used twice a day as it's weaker than the cream, but you get twice the volume. Also, there are a few other issues im wondering about (minoxidil content if used twice a day, etc.) However if i used that i wouldnt need prox-n and it would hopefully spread as easily, something important with my hair.

My decision to make is
1) go for minoxidil 15% with azelic acid at night (fom genhair), minoxidil 5% in morning, + flutamin twice a day
2) proxiphen (lotion twice a day)
What do you guys think?

Instead of using Flutamide twice per day or Proxiphen twice per day, use The Flutamide in the morning and Proxiphen at night.....if you can afford it. Its expensive but it might just work.

That could work out ok, because i will order the lotion proxiphen so it will last me two months, and flutamide will last me a while also. So that means minoxidil out ( i know minoxidil is in prox) but is it enough? Also how is the drying time with flutamide? has is got side effects if absobed systematically

Goingat20, your going to worry yourself into side effects. It a lot of hype. Dont apply more than 1ML of Flutamide per day and you'll be fine. Prox doesnt substitue at all for minoxidil, i would also include Xandrox 15 on top of Prox and Flutamide. The Flutamide dries in like 5 minutes on my scalp. Your new regimen should look like this.

Morning - 5% minoxidil (quick drying Lee's), then Flutamide Lotion 5-10 minuntes after.

Night - Xandrox 15, Prox cream about 15 minutes after. Dr.Lee said that the Prox will absorb through the Xandrox 15. Dr.Lee has a new 12.5% minoxidil solution coming out at the end of June, and its supposed to dry as fast as his 5% minoxidil which dries instantly, and its not sticky at all. If i were you when this comes out i would do your regimen like this actually.

Morning - Dr.Lee's 12.5% Minoxidil Solution, Flutamide 5-10 minutes after.

Night - Xandrox 5 With Retin-A, Prescription Prox Cream 10-15 minutes after.

Stick with the dutasteride every day. That right there should get you some results and apply them everyday without missing. I would opt for the Prox cream because the liquid version has to be applied twice per day and even still Proctor says its still not quite as effective as the cream. The cream might be a bit if a pain in the *** but i apply it to my whole scalp and i have full coverage with some diffuse thinning aswell. It's expensive though and it only lasts about 1 month or a little bit longer.

Double-A maybe ;)
Why not try something experimental as you have never had any success with proven treatment u might go experimenting on your own..
Yeah you have a strange pattern of loss so I suggest you go for a strange medical route too

Proxiphen-N is some expensive sh*t I've heard and has actually never heard one single success story with it eather.. But up to you!! I just wont recomend anything on the market for hairloss these days except naturals and experimentals of choice....
Good Luck!!

For goingat20, since he has already used the proven meds he could go for something experimental, however...

Good Luck!!

I can't possibly understand why this is.

Naturals aren't studied at all, and we have no idea of their effects on the body (ie internals such as beta-sis, flax, etc) when used in large amounts or over long periods of time.

Experimentals are even more uncertain than proven meds - at least their effects are known.

I've heard of one, a well known poster here by the name of Bryan.

Goingat20, you dont wanna know the price of my regimen per month lol, its f*****g ridiculous! But worth it imo and i want my hair to be the best as possible untill HM hits the market. Its about $400 per month. Thats only cause i just added RU which costs about $105 per month. The Prox definetly helped to some extent because i remember taking a few weeks off of it a couple of times and both times i noticed just a little decling in the hairline area on my left side. So im sticking with it. My old regimen i was maintaing but i needed more regrowth along the hairline and overall thickening so thats why im on this new regimen.
