Your doctor is an idiot. The fact that he only 'thinks' should tell you he's incompetent. This isn't a matter of debate. You need to have your hair document by using a trichoscan, before starting minoxidil and after starting minoxidil and taking into count any potential shed from the standard hair cycle.

He didn't say "I think it's working" he compared my hair with pictures he took six months ago and said there had been regrowth on the hairline. I agree that there has been, but only a little bit.

Don't mistake vellus hairs as regrowth when in fact your miniaturizing more so.

Damn, your hair looks a LOT like mine, hairloss-wise we could almost be twins but I'm 25. I've been on finasteride for over a year with no improvement but maybe a quarter inch of temple loss so I guess I've maintained mostly. The sad thing is that my younger brother who is 23 has even worse loss than you and he takes finasteride as well (due to my suggestion) so I guess it depends on the person? As for your crown, yeah it's thin but salvageable, the temples are the worrisome part as finasteride has a hard time preventing loss in those areas.

So I can just put min on the back of my head? I don't know why I'm asking this...it's not like the universe will implode if I put min there haha.....it's not "against the rules" or something...

But yeah...I was thinking I cold possibly add dutasteride to my regimen in a year or so if I have extra money...

Oral spironolactone is no joke. If you are not transgender, the honest best you can ever do for your loss is dutasteride, minoxidil, and RU. Oral spironolactone is not for most men trying to help their hairloss problem.

I guess it COULD be a cowlick, but since I've got pretty aggressive diffuse thinning and my uncle and cousin are both NW6/7, I figure it's totally possible that I'm losing on the back of my head. I mean, what would a thinning NW6/7 pattern look like? But I'll take some more pics later, maybe with wet hair.

I don't think it's impossible that constant stress could speed up the genetically predetermined balding process...stress can shorten the hair cycle.

If that's the case, then you don't have Androgenetic Alopecia.

Maybe one day I will try it if I can figure out a formula to balance estrogens androgens etc....like take enough estrogen inhibiting stuff to make sure I don't grow tits.

Yeah but this is doing them no good. We're on this forum because we're losing hair and trying to discuss methods for combating this. While OP may not look too bad now, he's definitely thinning. Take a 12 year old with similar hair style and length, take a picture with flash and you'll barely see his skin.

I'm on finasteride, I just wanted to know if I should apply minoxidil to the back of my head...

I just started using minoxidil on my temples and vertex...I'm diffuse thinning...I just wanted to know if I could also use it in the spot I pointed out.
