Hey all,

I don't know if this is common or not, but I've noticed that the areas I put minoxidil on (which is generally the front and temples of my forehead) there is an outline of white discoloration of the skin. It's not a severe discoloration, but there is a noticeable difference in color with the rest of my forehead.

Its a bit of a problem because it makes my receding forehead look even worse... HELP!

I will post pictures soon...

The discoloration is not very noticeable on the images due to the flash of the camera. The arrows points to where I am talking about.

I'm also getting a hair transplant on the thinning area of my hairline next week. The Doctor said 100 hair transplant's will do for that area... Don't know if I'm making the right decision.

I would very much like some feedback please... the discoloration worries me because I feel as though I need to keep using minoxidil... (I apply once a day at night just to my right section of my hairline).

Like I said before... HELP!

how long have you been on topicals? I think your hair there has all it's follicles still growing. They are just smaller. Youl should try to grow it out with topicals for a year before doing the hair transplant. The hair from hair transplant will not start growing for about 3-7 months after the procedure, and you could get shock loss to the nearby hair, and will have some scaring in back. You will spend at least $400 if not $600 for that procedure. Bosly would charge $1000. With that money you could buy a lot of hair loss products. I really think you should by proxiphen cream for $100 and put a little there every day or even twice a day. For an area that small it would last 6 or 7 months.

What is proxiphen cream? I've never heard of it before...

Well, to be honest, the section where I'm getting the hair transplant has already had 200 grafts put into it last year... So the hairs there are pretty much transplanted hairs.. I figured I might aswell fill in the gaps with another 100 grafts... Just worried about the other side of my hairline receding in the future..

Any advice on the skin discoloration...?

OK, I did my research on proxiphen cream, and it sounds pretty good... I'll probably get it for my right (non transplanted) hairline so I can try and keep whatever's there as much as possible...

I'm gonna try and tan the white skin discoloration with a facial tanner.. Hope it works... But like I said before, if someone can confirm that my discoloration is a result of the minoxidil would be much appreciated..
