For a few months I tried using rogaine liquid and it destroyed my scalp. It would make my skin peel and very itchy. It got so bad that blood would start coming out. So, I had to stop using it. I then found out rogaine form did not have that ingredient that was the major problem. I got very excited and purchased a three month supply. At first everything was great but then after a few weeks I started having massive irritation. So, I had to stop using it. My scalp is still peeling and just a mess. I also went through the massive shed. I don't know what products I can use since I have such a sensitive scalp. I am also scared of using propecia because well I already have slight issues down there and do not want to make it worse....HELP!

Ok, first things first- order a bottle of emu oil on amazon (its pretty cheap) and start using that before bed until your scalp condition improves (i still use it every now and then- applying it last on top of other topicals is supposed to increase absorption). if that helps and you want something that may actually combat hair loss, you can try out some topical spironolactone (they sell it on this website- S5 cream). I say that since it is a lotion, not an alcohol-based solution. It is a mild antiandrogen, which supposedy will help slow/halt the loss (only been on it for a month myself, so the jury's still out for me), probably wont get much, if any regrowth from it though.

EDIT: forgot that you said you were thinking of propecia, but were worried about the sides. definitely get some spironolactone, if not right now, then eventually. it is said to be weaker than propecia (how much weaker i dont know) but it is often used as a propecia subsitute- and there are no sides, as long as you take it topically

i have some experience with emu oil and spironolactone, so thats all i can really recommend with at least some personal knowledge.

come to think of it though, ive heard of lotion-based minoxidils, maybe dr lee sells them? you should look into that. in the mean time, id just stay away from propylene glycol and alcohol-based solutions in general

woops, just realized that the S5 cream contains Retin-A, which probably isnt the best for your ultra-sensitive scalp. Go for some dr lee 5% spironolactone (NOT the 2% as it contains propylene glycol) just tried some S5 for myself the last few days and although initially i preferred S5, my crown eventually became rather irritated with the stuff (in a sun burn kind of way, quite possibly from retin-a)

hope i corrected that in time

what about nizoral? i used to get really inflamed scalp and nizoral works almost instantly on that. finasteride also helps from what i can work out from my ~2months experience with it but you said you already have some problems down there which you don't want to risk exasperating. with most people on this forum i'd probably just shout at them about finasteride until they stopped talking or got on it, but i guess i can see your point.
really really recommend getting some nizoral though. they sell generic versions really cheap at boots i think, dunno what country you're based at though. but definitely worth a shot.
maybe spironolactone?
man, i don't know. definitely try nizoral though. good luck.
