Found out at the doctor's office yesterday that my test levels are....well, pretty much normal. For guys my age, testosterone levels average from 500-700. I was around 550.

So if that's the case, then why in the world the thinning head?? Am I missing something? :(

Phew. From the title of your posting, I was worried you were going to tell me you were pregnant, b**ch!

But to your question... MBP is not directly correlated with testosterone levels. Quite a few things have to occur just right for someone to start the male pattern baldness process. First off, there are two enzymes that can be produced in a male body that convert testosterone to DHT, which is the actual culprit of male pattern baldness, not testosterone. Second, men susceptable to male pattern baldness have a genetic thang in their follicles that causes follicles in certain areas to develop receptor sites to which the DHT attaches and starts attacking. This is why an male pattern baldness-affected scalp has some areas that start balding, and some areas that keep their thickness.

So in effect, even someone with low testosterone is still susceptible to male pattern baldness. Just as long as you have any testosterone at all, and have normal amounts of the DHT-creating enzymes, and have hair that are genetically programmed to be receptive to DHT, you will have male pattern baldness.

"average from 500-700. I was around 550. "

Isnt that a little low? I thought the normal was from 500 to 800. I had my tests done and i was at 907 or close to it. A little to much tes for me but i wont complain, it keeps the wood hard and the muscles strong.

I honestly have no clue. I just wrote the whole doctor's visit off as a waste of time. She probably didn't know what she was talking about. She kept saying it was "testosterone" that binded to the recepter sites on the hair follicle.

My next step is to see a derm.

Guys,

Different labs have different calibration techniques and will have different ranges. You have to compare your number really only with the spread provided by your lab.
