Okay before I start, if you're worried about the same thing as me, make your own thread? Makes it extremely frustrating having to find replies that are FOR ME..

Some of you say I am balding, other's not??

Yeah my crown feels fine, wasn't worried about that anyway.

Okay, so what are my options? Finastride? Is that what I want?

I have some questions about general medication (not just finastride)..

Other than the possible side effects, is it going to affect my daily routine or is it just take it once every day or so and that's it.

Is it possible to keep the medication a secret?

What if I stop taking it? What will happen?

Where do I even get it? I'm in the UK and I don't have my own dermatologist, so I do I just go see my GP?

You're obviously embarrassed which is why the photos of your hair are dogshit, but you're not helping yourself by doing so if you want accurate answers. Does look like you are probably miniaturising at the front though.

Don't worry about any medication aside from finasteride, which should be fairly easy to hide from anyone if you want. Can even cut 1mg into quarters to save money as the response is the same on average and generic is cheap. If you stop taking finasteride you'll keep losing hair as before, but potentially your androgen receptors become stronger after using finasteride long term so stopping could make the losses even faster.

Hit up a GP, get a prescription for finasteride, quarter it and eat one a day for the rest of your life. Lucky you got around it early.

Ask you GP for a script for finasteride

Get on minoxidil but maybe do finasteride first for a few months (ask around here before adding minoxidil how long to wait)

It is not going to do anything to you negatively unless you are sensitive to side effects ( you can ask around here but mostly they are sexual and I think you know right away)

It should not effect your daily routine to take a pill.

You can hide the pill if you want--not sure who you are hiding it from.

Minoxidil is the one that may be annoying because you have to put it in your hair, and you have the botte so if you live with a girl its like you have to either tell her or hide it (which you may still be able to hide it depending on your routine)

All finasteride does is block the enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT..DHT is what is attacking your hair follicles...It works in most people but some it does not and then some others get sexual sides. Rare others get other sides 'depression anxiety et but like RARE. i would not worry about this happening because its rare.

I know it sucks you have hair loss but you are young and you have spotted it early.

Hop on meds, do what you can and you may be fine...especially in a few years they are going to have much much better treatments and all praise Tsugi (possibly) a cure one day.

So hop on meds, and pray for the best...you may thicken back up if it's early enough and you are a good responder.

In regards to finasteride it's probably the most subtle treatment we have and also the most effective. You can definitely keep it a secret if you feel the need to. Minoxidil can be applied once a day (at night) and takes approximately as long as it takes to brush your teeth to apply.

If you stop either of the 2 medication your hair will quickly return to baseline + wtv you would've lost in the time frame you were on meds. My advice would be, try to be as proactive as possible with your treatments.

I've contacted the Belgravia Centre, I think I'm gonna try and get an appointment there next week.

I really don't see anything wrong with your hair. And almost everyone looks thin haired when the hair is wet. Plus every man recedes at some point, doesn't mean you will go bald.

Male hormones go down as we age. So will the rate of our hairloss (as our plumbing get's bad, unfortunately).

All you can do is medicate it. Really, what other options are there?

You really need to go to another dermatologist. He/She will describe to you another treatment. Ask them about PRP too. If the medicines don't have any effect you will need hair transplant.
