yes, get on finasteride. if u go on generic Proscar, it'll cost u less than $10 a month. it's your best weapon by far. add nizoral shampoo too. then worry about adding things to your regimen.

Finasteride is definetely a must as well as nizoral.

But also think that if his condition gets too bad and he is prepared for the commitment, then starting minoxidil would not be a bad idea. The more hair you have, the easier it is to maintain.

My personal advice would be to skip the minoxidil, given your particular situation.

Start with just the finasteride, and give it some time to see if it does the trick for you.
Test finasteride helpful for me?

the more hair u have, the less u should apply minoxidil. it's only for people who want more regrowth and thickening, not for someone young starting male pattern baldness. and besides, it'll have to stay forever which is annoying, since u have to put it on twice a day.

oral spironolactone?? that wont do anything for hair loss. there's spironolactone cream which is good but nothing compared to finasteride or dutasteride.

Oral spironolactone might be very effective for hairloss, but you might have some surprising and unintended side effects.

spironolactone is one of the drugs taken orally by some transexuals to alter their hormones. Get the picture?

I read somewhere that oral spironolactone is the best anti androgen. But it is used by transsexuals. That's not a good thing for straight man IMO

Transsexuals also use other medicines in conjunction with spironolactone to develop more feminine features.

finasteride won't maintain your minoxidil results. You need to keep using minoxidil to hold onto any gains that you have made.

Basically.. whatever choice you make.. it will be for life.. unless you are willing to watch your hair deteriorate fast on abandoning your regimen, think very hard about how intolerable your current situation is, this is not a quick or easy fix.

if you are worried about taking propecia at your age, I would recommend applying topical 5% spironolactone cream and see if that halts your recession. as a fellow asian i understand your worries since it seems every asian has a perfect hairline. i am 27 and am currently taking propecia but i wish i had tried topical spironolactone cream first to see if that would have done the trick. the only problem is it's a bit more of a hassle to apply a topical than take a pill.

Trying finasteride for 2 months is unlikely to tell you much based on the feedback of most, I'd say 6 months at least, some say 12. I am personally experiencing positive effects after 2 but don't count on it.
