Hyperthyroid And Speed Of Male Pattern Baldness

my t4 is like 2.06 and the upper limit of normal is like 1.77. I have diffuse thinning including the sides but not back and worst on top.

Wondering if stopping my synthyroid is gonna make this worse or better?

Any thoughts?

Welp if anyone cares about my little experiment, stopped taking thyroxine today. Itching stopped about a few hours after my normal dose. Comes around every now and then but it was previously constant. I can’t really tell how much shedding I have because my hair is short but hair pull test is pretty much positive everywhere still, maybe even a bit worse than previously.

So not sure if the lower dose is helping or hurting, but honestly without the itching/crawling feeling honestly balding is a bit easier to swallow

Bro maybe ask your Dr. First?...but if you decide not to ask and are gonna keep trying it without Dr. Knowing then I would reduce the dosage by like 10% of you can and see what happens.

Ya my doctor is in on it. I’m doing 25 every other day now instead of 50 everyday, rechecking in 6 weeks

Mines a bit strange though, diffuse thinning with significant retrograde if not full on dupa.

Honestly I’m kind of optimistic as my itch today has significantly decreased to a manageable level. REALLY hoping it stays gone

Most people wouldn't look twice at your hair as thinning. Where are you thinning exactly?

Obsessed yes, I admit it’s unhealthy and I will probably be see a therapist soon.

Non balding, well I hope so but I really don’t think so. I even went to a dermatologist who confirmed it. Maybe this picture will show it more. My itching and shedding can get real real bad too

Why not take Finasteride then if you were truly concerned instead of reducing your Synthroid?

Well my thyroid is high so I have to reduce it anyway. And Finasteride gave me a bad Telogen Effluvium, made my worrying worse. Also I felt high on it

You need to take it for enough time before you can make judgments. Accutane made my acne much worse and gave me eczema and photosensitivity but after 6 months everything cleared up (though the eczema and photosensitivity stayed around for a little while after).

I might have but the high feeling really got to me. I work in healthcare and it felt dangerous

Not planning on going hypothyroid just getting back in normal range. I’m glad you think my hair looks fine right now, hoping it stays that way!
