I started taking finasteride on my 18th birthday in November. That's about six months. I definitely notice an improvement around my hairline. All of the miniaturized hairs are growing longer and thicker. A lot of new hair has come up in spots that were previously bald. All in all my hairline has come down a great amount(maybe a couple cm's). But I was just wondering, do you think I am doing any harm in taking finasteride? I was finished growing in my freshman year of high school so I am not worried about that. Do you think my brain is still developing? IDK, I just really need some advice on what I should do. I also just recently ran out of finasteride and am debating on whether or not I should even order new pills. Thanks.

Anyone have any knowledge on this subject? I mean I really don't care about the sexual side effects. That doesn't really bother me. It wouldn't even bother me if I grew slight man boobs or couldn't hold an erection anymore. Not saying those things are happening to me cause their not. The only side effect that I am worried about is brain function. I don't want propecia to f*** up my brain cause I need that the most to get good grades.

There is no age really. The drug is bad for you regardless. I'm on my 2nd day already got sides my gf is threatening to leave me but I don't give a **** anymore.
Androgens affects the brain a lot. However, all effects caused by deficiency are reversible - in worst case scenario with TRT. Gynecomastia isn't anything to worry about either. It can be treated with a steroid gel named Andractim. The sexual function, that's the hard part. It's dependent on sufficient levels of certain hormones, and optimal ratios. I've recently learned that finasteride obviously reduces the level of nitric oxide, simply by reducing the DHT level. Nitric oxide appears to be very important, especially for normal cardiovascular- and sexual function (erections).

The idea that sexual side effects would not bother you.. may indicate you are too young to be taking a drug which may affect such things.
What exactly is disgraceful about that? Indeed for many no age is appropriate.. especially not an age where kids are so obsessed with their appearance. This decision may have permanent implications for your overall health and you are doing so for purely cosmetic reasons. One might question the logic in such an act..
I'd advocate propecia for those afraid of side-effects, those willing to quit the drug when said effects appear(if they do) Yet for one who's willing to ignore side effects? How likely is it someone with man boobs, limited to no sexual function.. not to mention the other slew of possible side effects, depression etc, how likely is it someone with all that is going to be happy.. is a hairline all you need to sustain you?
Not to mention some side effects are permanent, personally I'd take sexual function and a bald head over a perfect hairline and a floppy knob.

Yeah but you don't understand. I've been on finasteride for almost 6 months now and I have not experienced any sides whatsoever. If I continue I doubt any sides are going to surface because they haven't done so already. I think I'm just going to continue taking them until new and better treatments come out. I mean it's just sex right? Not like your whole worlds going to end if you can't jack off/have sex as good as you used to.
