How to correctly apply Nizoral?

How do you correctly apply it in the shower?

I've been using it, and I've got some sheddingSS from it
The way I used it, I put it in my hair, wash it off, then re apply, for the rest of the shower, then wash it off. 3x a week. Is this bad?

Whats the way you guys put it on, so you don't get alot of shedding?

Apply, leave in for 4-5 minutes, rinse out, and then follow up with conditioner for another 4-5 minutes.

I use nizoral every third day.
