Hi all, I've been on finasteride since 2011 and minoxidil since about 2013 for frontal loss. So the frontal loss is not the issue here, it's already well established for me and the medication seems to have slowed it down and I made it through my 20s with enough hair. I went to a well-known hair transplant doctor who took bulk measurements of my scalp back in 2011, which the top and crown were slightly less than base, but they were within the margin of error (less than 5% difference from the terminal area). I don't have a strong family history of crown balding, at least not until the men are elderly, so I figured I wouldn't have to really worry since I'd started taking finasteride before the top or crown even really started.
Yesterday I noticed my scalp itching like crazy, out of literally nowhere. I couldn't help but scratch the s*** out of it, so I believe that is why you'll see in the pictures that it looks red and inflamed. I washed it a while ago with 2% nizoral and it seems to have subsided. On a whim I decided to comb around back there to check on my crown and when I part it at certain angles I can see my scalp. It can be deceiving since I have a lighter hair and scalp color with low contrast so I really can't tell how bad it is. The pictures I'm attaching are both dry and wet and under different lighting, trying to capture the least flattering angles so I can really show it. Is it worth doing anything more at this point? I'm already on the big 3. Time to throw in the towel? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
