Hey all,

i’ve been on Dutasteride for around 3-4 years now, and I just went 5 days without taking (I usually take it every day) due to running out of a script. If anything, my hair seemed to look better in that time for some reason? I understand dutasteride has a very long half life, however to feel a bit more energetic and have my hair looking thicker in that time is crazy.. not sure. Anyway, I was just wondering, how often could I take dutasteride for it to still be as effective as taking it every day?
Cheers

Hi, if you don't mind, where do you purchase your Avodart? And are you using genuine Avodart?

Hair cannot get thick within a few days that’s not how hair growth works. Other factors can make you feel your hair is thicker like a change in air humidity, hair length, different water

I recommend just taking one capsule each day, as I do. Taking it every other day will be less effective, but will still be more effective than finasteride.

Do you take anything with dutasteride to lower estrogen spikes from it?

Or yourself? Do you take any supplements with dutasteride?

I noticed that my erections were weaker when I began taking dutasteride. I've been taking six different supplements to counteract this side-effect every day for the last two years, and they really have worked. My erectile dysfunction has disappeared. The supplements I take are zinc, L-Arginine, Horny Goat Weed, Korean Ginseng, Maca Root, and Gingko Biloba. I don't know what the relative contribution is of each of these in terms of treating this side-effect, but something among this bunch is obviously working very effectively. I've read studies providing evidence that some of these supplements can help fight hair loss too. But I do tend to be a bit skeptical when claims are made regarding the efficacy of natural hair loss "treatments".

I also take a multivitamin each day, btw.

Oh nice, the only ones I’ve tried out of those are the zinc and arginine. I currently take a product that has dim and calcium d glucarate in it, any experience with those?

You can use a estrogen receptor antagonist/blocker or aromatase inhibitor. The latter is preferred, since estrogen receptor antagonists like nolvadex is harsher on blood lipids etc. I also think nolvadex is worse for your hair than AI's. It's best to not take AI's either, since estrogen in itself is a growth promoter of hair follicles (prolongs the growing phase), but if you don't want to risk gyno, go ahead. Take as low doses as possible though. Anastrozole/arimidex, raloxifene, aromasin and letrozole is a few names to mention. Some of them are more powerful than others, last longer/shorter and may have different side effect profiles. It's very hard to get AI's from doctors though, so you probably have to get them illegally - usually from bodybuilding communites.

I use dutasteride and a low dose arimidex to battle the estrogen side effects. I have a log/thread, just visit my profile. Loosing fat will also help, since fat increases testosterone to estrogen conversion. Food containing natural anti estrogens may also help, but I doubt you will see any noticeable effect from just that - zinc containing food is probably the best.

I've not tried dim or calcium d glucarate. Do you take these to help with sexual sides, or for a different reason?
