I'd had slow development with my male pattern baldness for 6 years, basically just a receding hairline that went back 5 years ago and didn't move much since then, but i've been shedding a bit since christmas and i've noticed the side of my hair from the crown to the front got really thin in a line where the top of the head meets the side, and now my fringe feels thinner. i've decided it's time to get on finasteride while I still have good coverage, but I also have naturally fine hair and am worried about the reports i've read online about the hair shedding while on it.
Is the shedding just initially after starting on it or is it periodic? How noticeable was it to other people? Did you go from good coverage to indisputably balding? From reading around different forums it seems like being on finasteride is a rollercoaster ride of sometimes having good hair that was better than baseline to having thin hair that was worse than when they started. Is that common?
