I have been taking 1mg finasteride daily since late June. Four weeks are about to pass and I have not seen any improvement in my hair, shedding has not decreased. So, for you how long did finasteride take to show initial results?

Thanks

Actually more than a year. I read posts from people saying that it was after the year they began to see results, at month 14 or 15. So give it 1½ year and see what happens.

If the drug works, it should stop your hairloss within 2-3 months. However, regrowth is something different.

On the other hand, everytime I started to use some effective treatment (be it high-strength minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride), I observed first signs of regrowth within ca. 6-7 weeks.

It depends on, how much the drug suppresses your DHT levels. You would need some blood test of DHT and testosterone. If finasteride doesn't work (which can happen in young men more often than some would admit), you would waste many months.

four weeks ain't nearly long enough. general rule of thumb (at least back when i was starting on it, back in 2010) was always to take photos at baseline, then forget about it for 3 or 4 months and then start taking monthly photos again from then. four weeks isn't going to have done a thing.

your hair operates in cycles - you might have lowered the DHT enough for it to start being effective but there won't have been a fresh cycle or new growth in four weeks for you to measure that by. hold your horses.
