How long does finasteride retain hair counts?

Hypothetically speaking, if an 18 year old kid who had never lost any hair just started taking finasteride and took it every day for the rest of his life in order to retain his hair, would he still have a full head of hair at 60?

I mean, does it just kind of stop the balding for about two or three years and then sort of slow it down a bit after that, or does it fully keep all the hair you have?

Or does it vary a lot from person to person?

The answer to all your questions is "Yes".

No Problem at all. There are three areas worth searching on this website:

1. Home page (and all subpages) top left corner search box
2. News Center (searches just within the 200+ news articles we've put out) http://www.hairlosstalk.com/newsletter (right sidebar)
3. Forums (link at the top)
