How Is The Fue Graft Separated From The Tissue Below The Follicle?

I've looked at the punches used in FUE and seen that they're just cylinders, basically. So, how do they separate the graft from the tissue below the follicle after the punch has travelled all the way into the skin? Do they just rip it out? Does it not take much force because the bulb is at the layer of fat? I saw a video that made it look like not much force was used.
