How Hard Is It to Get Propecia/Proscar Prescribed?

Hi,

I am 18 and noticed my hair first thinning around 4 months ago. Ever since then things have been going downhill and although I don't have any clearly visible bald spots I am pretty sure I have male pattern baldness. My dad started balding at 18 and went completely bald by 22-f***. I am pretty sure I am heading in that direction, taking into account that everyone on my moms side is in tarzan territory hair wise.

What I am wondering is if a family doctor can just prescribe propecia/proscar or do u have to go to a derm. I am currently just using nizoral shampoo and would like to see how my body reacts to propecia.

Id like to hear some of your experiences on getting prescribed these meds.

Well, just go to your family Doctor and tell him your condition and that you want treatment. Also tell what your Dad went through and that you do not wish the same to happen to you. If your Doctor is cool he'll give you a script for it. Now, to get a script for Proscar, you'll need to tell him that you want to save money and just get proscar and split the tabs into 4ths or 5ths and take one section a day. He might give you a script for Proscar, then again he might tell you that he cannot since it is meant for Prostate Enlargement. Goodluck :)

By the way, you might want to jump on minoxidil. Get the 5% and use it twice a day. :)

If you can't get a prescription don't worry you can easily order it from the internet.

I was just about to make a topic about this, then I read your post. My doctor is being a real horse's *** and wont give me a prescription for proscar. I explained I would only take 1/4 tablet a day to save money but he said he couldnt do it. Where can you order these without a prescription that are legitimate sites? I found a few, but Im scared to order from them because I dont know anything about them. I heard that hair2go.com was a legit pharmacy site, but they only sell propecia.

QHI.co.uk and inhousepharmacy.com seems to be the two most recommended sites for proscar on these forums. Although i personally have only used QHI and was very pleased even though the delivery time wqs about 3 weeks.
