How fast does spironolactone dry?

I still haven't perfected what my treatment is yet. I'm doing all kinds of research and seeing what others are doing. I've been reading on the Spriro and it looks like something good to add to my treatment, but how long does it take for it to dry? My head already feels greasy from the minoxidil that I put in every morning and evening. I don't know how I'll add spironolactone to it if it already is all wet. Plus I wanted to add AC Revitalize to this and I have no idea how I'll do that if my head is all wet and sticky.

Dr. Lee says that you can apply Xandrox within 10 minutes of applying spironolactone 2%.

I usually wait about 15-30 minutes.

except that I find the 5% spironolactone cream to dry rather quickly... I only apply a thin layer and rigorously rub that into the skin... so it dries pretty quickly... leaves no residue, either.

Yeah, that's true Aplunk. It isn't as bad as say, Rogaine is in terms of drying time on the scalp. But, it does tend to stick to the hairs a bit, and when you get in in the hair, it stays greasy for quite a while. You have to be careful about where you apply the 5%, and be deliberate about it if applying in areas where your density is still decent.

If you do get it in the hair,I take a finger and press hard on the lotion. I pretty much force the lotion into the scalp. It remains a little greasy for some time, but no problems here.

I have a great deal of trouble with spironolactone cream, as i do with proxiphen cream, as my hair is longish (3 inches or so)

I can get it quite well on the thinning areas (in a norwood 2-3 pattern) but the front middle area, where i still have dense hair, is an impossible application with my long hair.

I cant simply use more though, as proxiphen is soo expensive and a tiny amount is recommended... and im trying to use less. What to do?!?

hey felk, i keep my hair at around 3 inches also. A good way to try apply it is brush all the hair forward, then start parting it. Part a section then apply the cream, rub it in, then brush hair forwrad and make another perfect part in the hair, apply the cream, then rub it in, then brush forwrad and make another perfect part, and so forth. I do this with my minoxidil and spironolactone also.

Wow, my hair is a little longer, about 3-4 inches. I really don't have any bald area yet, but my hair is receding. Would it be really obvious if I were to put this on my receding hair line? Actually would it be any help if I were to put it on my receding hairline? I'm still a little confused as to what spironolactone actually does.

Hey thanks a lot for the advice mate. I gave it a go, and I think it works with spironolactone. With proxiphen you are only supposed to use 1/10 of a teaspoon, and i want to use less to make it last longer, so i dont think i can do it this way but ill give it a shot.

However im still not sure if i get the spironolactone everywhere... im applying it to everything in front of my ears, and i swear most gets on my hair...

when i brush my hair forward and then make the perfect part (sclalp is visible along a straight line, i put the spironolactone on the straight line from the back and make it roll down to the front (hair line). i then rub it in, none comes on the hair give it a go.

Most people use it in combination. I don't know of anyone on here that has tried spironolactone alone.
