The only real way to see if your hairline is really receding in front of your eyes is to constantly have a buzzcut. You can see the areas that have gotten thinner than the rest of the head rather easily this way. Think LeBron James. His hairline has become a way too popular conversation topic these days, but that being said it is very easy to notice his receding hairline because he keeps his hair short and his hair around the recession is very thick. If you keep your hair longer than say 3/4", which -- let's face it -- most men do before they notice they're balding, it is very difficult to notice thinner hairs sprouting up at the hairline, particularly with lighter hair colors. I never noticed my recession until my mother noticed my crown was thinning...which is probably a blessing in disguise because I wouldn't be on treatment right now if she hadn't and I'd be walking around with a thin area in the back and a hairline that is receding all while not being on any treatment. It's a crying shame we don't have better treatment for male pattern baldness than we currently do, but I am thankful to at least have the big 3. If I was born 20-30 years earlier, I'd have no hope of slowing down the balding beast.
