how does minoxidil benefit diffuse thinning?

i been on finasteride for 4 months and it hasnt thickend up at all
keep in mind im a nw1 but with diffuset thinning so it looks like finasteride isnt doing its job or atleast yet , i wanna add minoxidil , how does minoxidil benefit it? if i dont got nothing to regrow just thicken up existing hairs

Just try it in a few months, i diffused as well and finasteride stabilized my hair and so far minoxidil has thickened it up.
