How do you know your hair is receding?

Hey there this might be stupid or paranoid and what not, but I just have a few questions I couldn’t find answers to online.

I'll start with some background... I'm 18 this is my maternal grandfather is kinda bald but then again he is like 80 something and my mother said he didn’t start balding until his senior years. Also no one on my fathers side is experiencing balding.

However lately It kind looks like my hair line is receding, but I cant really tell if it is or I'm just being a paranoid freak. The main reason I think that its receding is that it just looks thinner now but I never have really payed much attention to it in the past so it could just be normal. Also now there are short hairs along the hair line that are considerably shorter then the other hairs there. I'm sure they weren’t there before.

I was just wondering if any of you guys knew the early signs or things that could tell me one way or another.

heres how i found out:

start pinching your hairs and pulling them where u think they are falling out. If more come out in the receding parts compared to the rest of ur head, then u have a problem. Also, check to see if there are many smaller weaker looking hairs in those same spots, but keep in mind that the temples usually have weaker looking hairs in the front for everyone.

How I knew i was Balding

1) Lots of hair came out when i styled my hair.
2) Hair on my pillow (find a white pillow to check).
3) Hair coming out in shower.
4) It became noticeably thinner.

If your not experiencing any of the top 3 then your not going bald. You start to noticeably lose more hair then you did before. In some cases It might not be allot more though.

I dunno it might have been a coincidence that I shed alot of hairs in the fron hairline or something like that. because they are coming back their just all alot shorter than my other hairs. I guess the only thing I can do is wait and watch lol. But I have a hunch that its going to be balding, its a little bit too much of a coincidence.

I tried the pinch thing but the hairs seem to come out equally all over my head about 4 or 5 all around. It wouldnt really be a problem but my hair is long and I pull it back, so its pretty noticable and looks like balding. time shall tell I guess.
