How Do Some male pattern baldness Sufferers Not React To finasteride?

If male pattern baldness is caused by too much DHT, then how do some people not react at all, or get worse by taking finasteride? I don't understand. Does that mean that their male pattern baldness is caused by something other than DHT?

Several reasons. It could be that there are other androgens that cause balding as well. Also some people are sensitive to even the tiniest amounts of DHT so finasteride isn't enough for them so they go on dutasteride, which is stronger. Also, I have heard several people on this site and others talk about a phenomenon known as "reflex hyperandrogenicity" where your body senses lower DHT levels and compensates by making your androgen receptors even more sensitive to DHT. Apparently some users on this site such as Buckthorn have suffered from this. I haven't been able to find many studies about the success rate of Propecia or what percentage of people get worse with it, so if anyone has it would be helpful. Plus, the real cause of male pattern baldness is a genetic sensitivity to DHT rather than just aggregate DHT levels themselves. People who don't have the balding gene do just fine with normal or even high levels of DHT. It's the genetic sensitivity that we balding men have that causes even the smallest amounts of DHT to have a negative impact on our hair. So to really fix the problem, we would need to change our genes. And that would be preferable to medication really since a lot of men don't like how Propecia changes around their hormones and causes sides. I just started finasteride. I am 21 and have fairly advanced balding for my age (NW3v). I just hope that it works or at least helps me maintain and doesn't make it worse.

I mean its something between finasteride which helps something like 80 percent of men, and castration which prevents male pattern baldness in like 100 percent of men. Why finasteride doesnt work in 100 percent of men? Timing of removing DHT, not removing enough DHT finasteride only removes 75 percent or so, could be upregulation of AR, testosterone is enough in some men. We dont know really
castration is pretty powerful proof, and the only proof in existance male pattern baldness can be stopped solely from hormones.
Nothing else yet has those results

Then why are castrated people always depicted as bald ?
