How Do I Lower My Dhea Hormone Level?

I have a rare disorder called "acquired progressive kinking of hair". It is caused mainly by an androgen imbalance. A majority of the scalp hair fibers are getting distorted by the raised hormone and are therefore strange-looking. They look like pubic/axillary hairs. (See photo)

I have taken a hormonal test (see photo) and it appears that I have extremely raised DHEA levels (57 as opposed to the maximum level of 35) as well as a slightly raised Androstendione hormonal level. One of these two might be causing this disorder, (as well as the constant acne and irritated skin that I have).

How do you usually go on when you want to lower your DHEA levels? I am currently having trouble getting accepted into a clinic that wants to look into this issue. In Sweden, our visits to hospitals and clinics are financed by the state and are therefore harder to get accepted into. My case is getting tossed due to its "vanity" and lack of severity.

You can't do that. The only way to do it is to supress your adrenal gland with an exogenous steroid which is not a viable option in the long term.

Does it have to be an exogenous steroid?

Is there not an enzyme inhibitor out there for DHEA?

5a-reductase inhibitors can stop for example dihydrotestosterone.

No.

I've seen the guy you posted in a study. It is probably not you but i believe you posted it to show what apkh is. You are at a high risk of developing severe androgenetic alopecia in the future. Take finasteride if you are willing to tolerate its side effects. There is not much you can do.

I am a bit unsure about the claim that one will lose hair with this condition. I have had this condition since I was 16 and now I am 27 years old. I have not lost any hair at all since.

How risky is hydrocortine, if I would ever consider taking it?
