I go to upload it, and the screen after you hit submit to change your profile.. well there's a bunch of errors printed on the page... it's weird.. and then it says my profile has been updated underneath all the http blah blah errors..

so i go back to the forum, and my avatar doesn't show up.

i'm running the latest version of mozilla firefox, on winxp, and my java for some reason isn't setup properly as there are sites that i browse and try to click on a photo, and it won't open up into it's own window like it should, in order to display the full size of the image. some javascript error, though on the java test site the 'duke' dances so the java is installed obviously.. it's just fucked up.

I didn't understand some of what you just said (or most of it), but you might try just linking to an off-site avatar instead of uploading it. This is easy to do and also gets around the 20kb limit on uploaded avatars.
