How can I be thinning on the side of my head??????

Have you ever seen a guy who had no hair on the side of his head...but had hair on top? Well if not, I might be that guy soon!
I started losing my hair last year. And it started on the side of my head. Like directly above my ear and behind temples (even lower too!). That whole area. Yes, the area thats SUPPOSED to be dht resistant is thinning. WTF is going on???? I am thinning on top and the temples as well, but the sides of my head are BY FAR the worst area. Why? 2 thyroid tests and 2 trips to different derms say nothing is wrong and i believe it. Any ideas ? I personally have never seen someone bald on the side. Is this a place a hair transplant would work as well?

dude are you on propecia? because if you are that's why you are balding at the sides... i've heaard of that a few times for propeccia side-effects, otherwise i have no idea. if you are on propecia please tell us more about your regimen.... thx

The sides above the ear and toward the front are NOT immune to DHT. In extreme cases of male pattern baldness, it is not unlikely to lose hair in that area. I've thinned pretty noticeably in those areas also... so has my dad, my uncles, and my cousins.

That's where it started in fact.

currently on a shitload of vitamins, nizoral and saw palmetto. Cant afford propecia. This sucks sting. Are you covering up the sides with a longer hairstyle?

So much for a hair transplant down the road. HM as well. Unless I have $20k to spend covering my whole head.

I buzz it to a #2... can't see the thinning at all. Are you THINNING? or shedding? Because there is a difference.

I've got my hair pretty short all around. Gel it up and comb it forward with a little toppik on the crown to make it all nice.. I'll take a picture to show you all how it goes soon. I think it looks REALLY good right now personally

i wish i could keep it short and comb it forward. unfortunately i just kinda mask it by keeping it dry and combing it over.


also yes, i have seen some bald guys that are bald right down to their ears
