How are we sure that Dutas/ Duprost is legit?

This is a big worry for me personally. How do we know for certain that we aren’t being duped? I’ sick of hearing people saying they are respected companies, more in hope then anything else.

Avodart is way expensive, so people like me are forced into buying these generics. Just what is Dr reddy’s game in this? Does he have hair loss, or is he knowledgable on the subject?

I am at 3 months of the cipla version - duprost and my hair has progressed. I’m not just talking about a slight shed. My hair pattern has progressed to the point where I see the Norwood 7 pattern now on the side of my head. I’m using this and in that time my hair has gotten considerably worse. Not a slight shed. My pattern has accelerated. I feel sick. I look like a kid, so I can’t afford this to happen to me.

I need answers.

Gunner,

Not the answer you wanted but........

A few of us on here are starting to get worried about you. What you see with your eyes is not what other people see. What I see with you is a matured hairline, yes you have a receding hairline but you are not bald.

Don't let this hair loss thing beat you to death. You are feeling low because you have let yourself be that way. You are an individual and have a right to be happy just like anyone else. Just because you are losing your hair does not mean you are condemned to a life of misery.

This is something that you are going to have to learn to do on your own. Because when it comes down to it, it does not matter what anyone else says to you. It's you and only you that can pull yourself up and move on.

You need to motivate yourself to be happier. Look at it this way. You have another 70 odd years to live on this god for saken planet. Ask yourself this question. Do I want to spend everyone one of those years in misery and despair because I don't have as much hair than the average guy?

Learn to like yourself, Learn like others and you will see a big change....

Dr. Reddy's and Cipla are the Indian equivalents of say Merck and Pfizer in the U.S. If the stuff is from Dr. Reddy's or Cipla, it's going to be legit.

D.

P.S. Dr. Reddy's is even traded on the U.S. equity markets as an ADR (American Depository Receipt).

Cipla are a massive company with a large range of lines. If they were selling sugar pills instead of the real deal, and someone found out (and it is possible, believe you me - all rival pharmaceutical companies check out each others' product), the damage caused to Cipla's name would be indescribable. They would forever be known as the dishonest company who sell fake drugs. Their stock market value would plummet... They could quite conceivably go bust. They know this. That is why I am prepared to put my faith in them.

For future reference, try chewing a Dutasteride pill next time you pop one. It has that hideous bitter taste that could only be medicine.

Or give it to your younger brother and see if he turns into a girl.

If you are so worried about it, take a pill and go to an analitic lab, they´ll easily find out (w mass espectrometry. w an RMN or whatever) what and how much stuff you have in that pill. I don´t know exactly, as i´m from south europe, but i bet that they are not going to charge you millions, and you can have your mind for sure about that matter. Anyway I doubt very very much that drug brands like Cipla and Dr.Reddy would be selling a fake medicine, for their own interest.

3 months is not enough anyway. Nobody claims dutasteride is a magic wand. Hell you could reach month twelve and still be losing, if you're one of the unlucky few with hair which is ultra-sensitive to the tiny amounts of DHT percolating through to your follicles. Anyway, give it more time.

Gunner, im in a similar situation as you ,three months on duprost and my hair never looked so bad.
ive also been thinking the same as you about the legitimacy of cipla's product,
but then i take the points of the other posters and the fact cilpa is are rather large and respected company they are the reasons i chose to use their product in the first place
while it's not looking so good at the moment i made my desicion three months ago and will stick by it.
so ive decided to carry on with duprost for three more months and then if still no joy, then i'll look for alternatives. (like setting my head on fire) :boom:

I've read countless stories of guys who switched from finasteride to dutasteride claiming that around month 3 they noticed their hair has never been worse. A few months down the line, they say that it's never been better.

Remember, it often gets much worse before it gets better. And, for what it's worth, if it's getting really bad now, it will probably get really better. You're probably shedding a lot now as your hairs are synchronizing their cycles. When they sprout back up, I think you'll be a happy man. But it seems nothing short of a 13-year's scalp would make you happy, Gunner.

Can you guys elbaorate on what you mean by your hair looking bad at 3-4 months? Was it a minor shed or severe? Some guys I know lost TONS of hair after a short while on dutasteride and they are tempted to stop.

It was a big shed for me  but in life it is rare that a goal is achieved by a straight path....

I don't really know if what I had can be called a shed. I wasn't noticing major hair dropout, but my front became suspiciously lacking in body a couple of weeks into my regimen. This could of course have been the minoxidil though.
