I know a lot of people ask this question but I need to know; have I just got a mature hairline or is it bad enough that I need finasteride, Min ect? The thing is everyone I've asked has said they hav't noticed or that it isn't that bad which is probably true when it's combed a certain way but when it's pulled back or wet ect it looks like a Norwood 2 or 2.5 to me (at the temples and front middle with little or no loss at the crown.

Definitely male pattern baldness.. How old are you? I'm sure most will tell you to get on finasteride.

I'm 36 thanks for replying. I've attached some more pics. It's not too late to save it, is it? I don't think it looks too bad in the last pic. That's how I comb my hair normally. Bearing in mind that these pics were deliberately taken under a harsh light with my hair pulled back what Norwood would you say I am?

I'm not good at gauging Norwoods.. Your hair is in better shape than a lot of even younger people on here. I bet finasteride could save it, but I'd wait and see what someone with more knowledge and experience than myself says. I've never taken finasteride, although I just ordered my first batch of it.

How did you come up with "mature hairline"? Not trying to be mean, but it's clearly male pattern baldness. Take your hand and push all the hair back from your hairline so we can see to the roots of your hairline. Like this

IMO 36 with that hair is no where near as bad as someone in their 20's with that hair if you know what I mean.

Big 3 ASAP it's never too late, if you respond you can restore a good portion of what you lost. Good luck

That 2nd picture should really confirm it to yourself. If you're feeling brave, do the same shot with wet hair after putting a comb through it, I warn you that there may not be a lot there, but if that's what you need to be convinced.

But a "mature hairline" stays pretty much in tact, and in most cases a mature hairline will happen early in life (early 20s to maybe past mid-20s) and it will stay at that same point, but what you have in the 2nd picture, if you can imagine a line going from temple to temple, over the top of your head, and everything in front of that line is clearly thinning and will continue to do so back to the crown. A "mature hairline" isn't related to thinning really.

At 36 I don't know if your chances of growing back that hair are great, I mean I literally don't know either way, but yes you need to use minoxidil at least, and I'd say finasteride. Talk to your doctor as well. Maybe it's not the worst thing if you don't regrow any, if you already aren't noticeably bald then as long as you maintain hair you're still a normal guy to most people.

I'm also not great at Norwood judging but I'll guess a Norwood 2.5.

Ha ha no offence taken! Like I said, I thought it was male pattern baldness myself but everyone I have asked said they hadn't noticed and I was being silly which threw me a bit. I guess technically it's worse when you're in your 20's but the psychological effect is the same. It doesn't matter what age you are, it can still knock your confidence.

Yeah of course I'd be delighted to regrow some hair but if, like you say, I only maintain what I've got I'd be ok with that I guess. I don't think I'm at the stage where I can't style my hair to look at least half decent. I'm still quite a good looking guy (not that you'd know it by those pictures though lol) and I still get a few smiles from the ladies when I walk down the street. But if I lost any more hair then it's probably game over!
