Two of your most famous statesmen, George Washington and John Adams, were very keen cricketers. Also, baseball borrows a lot of terms from cricket i.e. innings, runs, etc. Interestingly, The Boston Red Sox have been scouting Adam Gilchrist, the Aussie big hitter, and Brett Lee, the Aussie fast bowler (equivelant to a fast pitcher) was invited to trial with Arizona Diamondbacks a few years back when they won the world series.

Being a cricket nut, I find it difficult to hate baseball because there are some similarities. Everytime I watch baseball, I just end up comparing the similarities. Cricket is likely to become more popular over the coming years because of the invention of a new shorter form of the game called 20-20 cricket, which lasts just under 3 hours and devised so it attracts big after work/school crowds. it has proved hugely popular with fans wherever it has been played thus far. It attracts big crowds because it is fast and ferious with lots of sixes (equivelant to home runs). Interestingly, this form of the game is also likly to attract countries that are not traditionally known for their cricket.

On a slightly different subject, Texan multi billionaire Allen Stanford is investing millions in Carribean cricket. He is forming a new 20-20 tournmament to involve all 18 cricket playing Carribean Islands including Barbados (tiny population but has produced unbelievable number of great cricketers throughout history), Bahamas, Bermuda, Jamaica, Dominica and Guyana, which is actaully located South America but has produced some great cricketers for the West Indies, as well as others. He was recently invited by George Bush to his Texas ranch and they ended up discussing cricket for a length of time.

A great sport always has some dull moments. As great a sport soccer is, it still has some boring 0-0 draws for example. If a sport was constantly exciting, it would get boring after a while, even if that sounds ironic. Look at basketball, teams score baskets from one end to another non stop. how boring is that?

Going back onto the subject of Shane Warne, I keep seeing his bonce staring up at me from the back pages of The Sun in Advanced Hair Studio's advert and I must say it does look a lot better... and I always thought that company were scamsters. Can't just be a toppik/couvre job because although his temples are still Norwood 1.5/2ish I was watching the ashes the other week and he had sweat dropping down the sides of his head and it still looked ok... surely it only could have been the big 2/3 they gave him?
