hey, i just turned 19 and I'm in my final year of high school. i would say i started noticing hair loss about 2-3 years ago but i thought it was nothing and really regret not taking action sooner :( . im really new to all this hair loss stuff.

my hairline in the last few years has turned from a regular straight hairline to like a"M" shape hairline, and its continuing to turn into a bigger "M". i can tell which hairs are going to fall off soon just by feeling my hairline cause some hair has stop growing. well for the rest of my head the worst part is that its really thinning. i can see my scalp pretty well in the mirror. i began getting buzz cuts for the last year cause i heard it helps reduce hair from falling out.

its really sad walking down the hallway or sitting in class at school looking at the other students and knowing i may be bald in the next few years.
what steps and procedures do you guys recommend i take?

i done some reading but i get lost in the terms you guys use lol. what is this Big 3 treatment i keep on reading? i was thinking about doing some basic treatments like buying Rogaine and giving that a try, good idea?

who would i go see to seek some professional advice, i cant really see my family doctor being very knowledgeable about hair loss.
well i'm open to anything and any advice you can give me is really appreciated thank you.

kthxbi

brother, lemme start this off by saying feel free to shoot me a message if you want a more detailed opinion. i get messages off people asking questions about my experience quite regularly and i love to help, i wish i'd had someone to ask detailed (and frequent) questions to when i started noticing.

here's the quick version of my story though: i'm 19 too, and started noticing hairloss at late 17 or early 18. got on nizoral pretty fast and it did a little to get rid of the scalp itch. finally got on finasteride a week or so before i turned 19. 4 months later and i haven't regretted it for a second so far. fincar into 1/4's is dirt cheap (i work maybe 12 hours a week and put most of the money up my nose and i can still afford it) and side effects were minimal and lasted for the first 10 days or so.

older users might tell you differently, and maybe they'd be right, but personally i'd say if you're old enough to drink and f*ck then you're old enough to save your hair. jump on nizoral and fincar and forget about your hairloss entirely. i'd say hold off on the rogaine, it's a lot more hassle and is more of a commitment. if things continue to progress then jump on it later down the line, but either way you'll need finasteride so i'd say jump on that and nizoral right away. chances are you'll never look back.

but again, feel free to shoot me a message any time. i'm always down to help someone in this situation out.

Hi there,

The big 3 consists of Propecia (finasteride) Rogaine (minoxidil) and Nizoral Shampoo (ketoconazole).

Unfortunately, you are likely a bit too young to start on Propecia. How old are you right now? Since you are in the early stages of hair loss, Propecia is the best treatment for maintaining your hair into the future, and stopping any further loss. Rogaine acts as a growth stimulant, but isn't the best for long term maintenance. Nizoral is a good shampoo, but it's hair growth benefits are limited on its own.

Depending on your age, Propecia MAY be a good choice, but you would really want to talk to you doctor about it before considering that route. The minimum age you should be before starting is 18.
