Hi, i'm a 22 years old Portuguese male and I have been losing my hair since 19. I had terrific amazing thick shiny hair, now its thinning and falling a lot. Since my 19'th it started and stopped, started and stopped, but now its worse then ever. The thing is, i have male pattern baldness but i have no bald/limp hair people in my family! Everyone has hair, my father has fair (a little thin but he has a LOT) and my mother has hair (though its a little thin but she also has a LOT and she also suffered from hair loss my age). All of my grandparents have hair, my mothers side grandfather is 80 and still has a lot of hair.
I used minoxidil last year, and I think it worked, but its said to cause left ventricular hypertrophy with chronic use so discontinued treatment (also, in Portugal its terribly expensive). I started to use aminexil but don't think its gonna do anything, since its an analogous molecule and probably works the same way as minoxidil and has much less of it.
I also have terribly oily hair and oily skin, I have to wash it every 2 days so it stays clean. Sometimes a hair comes out with a little ball of solidified sebum on its end.
Despite my oily hair problems, I do have male pattern baldness, and if you put a light over my head you can see the whole scalp.

So my question is, what do you suggest? Should I go back to minoxidil and stay with it for ever? I also do body-building (absolutely no steroids) and workout a lot, and I'm afraid that my naturally engorged left heart will hypertrophy because of minoxidil.

Thanks for your patience. :)

PS: I'm seeing last years pictures, and i cant imagine how much hair i had comparing to how much i have now

PS2: Dermatologists here don't care about hair loss, they just tell you to accept it, the health system here sucks so, its kinda useless to seek medical help for baldness

Wow that's drastic! Even though i have no family baldness?
Id rather not risk it with finasteride... Can only minoxidil do the trick?

minoxidil does nothing to combat male pattern baldness, it just grows hair

less than 2% ever get side effects, and half of those are transient

Yes i know, that's what merck claims, but some say its actualy higher then that. I know minoxidil doesn't combat MBP, but the thought of taking a anti androgen for the rest of my life kinda scares me.
