Hi everyone,

This is my first time visiting the site and i have been reading alot of the posts. I am glad to see a site where people can talk about their various experiences and produt reviews. Everyone seems very supportive

I have a question and I'm sure it has been asked before so forgive me if I sound repetitive.

My situation:

23, hair loss is gentic in my family and I had expected it. Last 2 years I've been noticing a thinning on the back, vortex. But I have been going thru more stress this past year and I have noticed the thinning getting very obvious oct-dec 2004. I finally decided I had to do something so I started propecia in early Feb 2005.

It seems the thinning is now also visable on my scalp and my hair is overall thinner than before 6 months prior. I have been on procicia for 2 months now and I read different things. Many people say you shed the first 3 months but on this board I am reading people say they experience shedding well into 7/8 months? Is there a general idea of what to expect and see if it is working? I'm pretty down on my self to not see changes yet but I know its waaaaay too early and I should give it time. I just wnat to see if any of you experienced a worsening the first 2'3 months and then saw improvements?

A little hope here please

you are right, if you have been reading this site's posts you know in your heart its way to early to see any real results. but, i know, i've been in your situation, its good to hear from other people sometimes. You still have plenty of time to see results, its too early to really tell if the drug is working! does that help :) anyway, i have had sheds on and off, at month 3, at 6-7, and some overall general loss along the way. but things seem to be turning around for me. bottom line, its a slow process. you won't wake up and say, "damn, today I got my results, today was the day, now I can end the worry." its so slow, that sometimes even YOU don't notice its slowly getting better. it takes a while to lose hair, and it takes a while to get it back. just keep rocking the regimen, stay firm to it and don't make any huge alterations to it other than maybe shampoo changes and you should be okay. remember, you have probability working for you. 83% maintained or improved on the drug. stay positive.

Thanks Trent, I apprecaite the encouragement. So I guess I'm wondering If for now I should just stick to my propecia for now and lay off the other stuff? I notice alot of guys on these site are using various products at once, but maybe doing something simple would benefit me for now. I'll try to pust a pic soon so others can see what my situation is, I would say I'm a moderate situation. I keep my hair very very short. I figure no point it trying ot mask it and I like that it is now no hassel. do you recommend any good shampoos?

I would stay with finasteride for the time being. It should be good enough to keep your hair on it's own merrits. You can of course add minoxidil at a later stage to see if that can help with some regrowth.

It's down to how you feel about your hair. If you feel you are making good progress and want some regrowth then go for it. But remember that minoxidil will cause you to shed intially. You need to be prepared for that.

If you are not using Nizoral then I would also add this to your regiment.

Only problem with adding minoxidil before waiting to see what Finasteride does is that you'll never know whether you COULD have maintained using finasteride alone. If you wait until one year, you might have the problem of additional loss (or failure to regrow) if finasteride alone doesn't meet your goals. But waiting until the one-year mark would allow you to add minoxidil only if you need it -- thereby potentially saving you a lot of time, money, and messiness down the road. Good luck.

I agree with Traxdata, make sure you are using nizoral (its not that expensive and you have to shampoo your hair anyway right?) and hold off on using anything else so you can see exactly what finasteride is doing for you.

Expect to see your hair improving in 3-4 months time because even if all loss ceases now it takes that long for new hair to grow in.

I don't understand why we're not allowed to post that stuff. How can we get in trouble for disputing a product? I'm allowed to say that a movie sucks without ever having seen it. That's my choice. This is garbage.

You can't say whatever you want on a forum.

Yea, but it's not even like what we're saying is vulgar or outright offensive or ANY of that. I just don't understand why these posts are being removed? If it's simply to stop Ken's tyranny, understood entirely. Carry on.
